Summer Reading Clubs Offer Fun For All Ages
Two June Meetings To Focus On Veterans

Town Hall meeting on June 18 at 6:30 p.m. in the Pate Room at
Headquarters Library, 300 Maiden Lane, Fayetteville.
Veterans Services staff will give an overview of Veterans
$GPLQLVWUDWLRQ EHQHÀWV DQG GLVFXVV DQ\ XSGDWHV IURP WKH UHJLRQDO RIÀFH
A question and answer session will follow the presentation. The meeting
is open to veterans, dependents and anyone interested in learning more
DERXW YHWHUDQV EHQHÀWV
"We encourage veterans and family members to attend town hall
meetings because it is a good way to learn about changes that have
occurred in the VA," said Veterans Services Director Sharon Sanders.
Veterans Services will also host a Pension with Aid and Attendance
meeting on June 21 from 2 to 4 p.m. in Conference Room A of the
Department of Social Services at 1225 Ramsey St., Fayetteville. The
meeting is for staff from nursing homes, assisted living facilities and
home healthcare agencies and is intended to provide information about
the program to help totally disabled non-service connected veterans,
their surviving spouses, and senior citizens.

Center's Summer Reading
Clubs offer summer fun
for children, adolescents
and adults through July 31.
Participation can be online or
at any of the county's eight
library branches. Reading
progress can be tracked online
and customers can share
reading lists and comment on
their selections.
The children's program,
"Dig Into Reading," is for
ages 11 and younger. Children
can earn prizes for every
four, eight, 12 and 24 hours of reading or having someone read to them.
Programs with fun and prizes are offered at the libraries.
The teen program, "Beneath the Surface," is for youth ages 12-18 and
offers writing, crafting, movies, anime and gaming activities.
The adult program, "Groundbreaking Reads," will offer a tumbler and

Library Offers Disaster Preparedness Resource
Hurricane Season began June 1 and the Cumberland County Public
Library & Information Center is now offering an online Natural
Disasters & Emergency Preparedness resource.

assistance in the event of a natural disaster and links to Cumberland
County Emergency Services and the National Weather Service.
