2 Without a doubt, 2020 was one of the most challenging years for Omicron Chapter of Alpha Phi. The chapter made it through recruitment, Bid Day, the holidays, and many other key events, all while dealing with a global pandemic. Regardless of how 2020 may have impacted Alpha Phi and Greek Life as a whole, the Omicron Chapter handled everything beautifully! I know our members will continue to do their best and make 2021 a year to remember. Making the Most of Our Sisterhood Last fall, we had an amazing time offering small events to our members to keep them involved. One of the most exciting events our members attended was axe throwing. Members of all pledge classes loved trying out this new trendy activity, and we received loads of positive feedback. In December, we had another great sisterhood event where we gathered at the house to decorate ornaments and drink hot chocolate. We had a great turnout, and it was the perfect way to end the semester. Socially Distanced Fun The spring semester started off smoothly, and Omicron members have gotten back into the swing of things. We have 74 members living in the house who have been constantly filling the halls with laughter and fun. We also have out-of-house members visiting for lunch every day, which allows time for bonding. As we continue to strive for social distancing, we still find time to interact with each other and study together at our house. The Alpha Phi house will always be a warm and welcoming place for all our members to come and visit. The Future of Alpha Phi The new Executive Board has been working extremely hard, and we are ecstatic about taking on these new positions. We attended the virtual Alpha Phi Leadership Conference on the weekend of Jan. 29. We had the opportunity to grow our knowledge within Alpha Phi and learn more about what it takes to be a leader for the Omicron Chapter. Some highlights from the weekend included ways to keep members involved during COVID-19, ideas for sisterhood events, and lots of new information for the Vice President of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion. Omicron added this new position to the Executive Board this year. Taylor Manske '19 holds this position and is already creating more ways to incorporate diversity, equity, and inclusion within our chapter. With Taylor's help, I believe our chapter will hold these ideals as core elements of being an Alpha Phi here at Mizzou. Spring Semester Brings Glimmer of Light We have so many things to be excited for during this spring semester. Starting off, we had spring Bid Day on Feb. 28! Vice President of New Member Education and Member Experience Kylee Halverson '19 worked tirelessly to make this a socially distanced and amazing event. Along with the help from Vice President of Recruitment Sydney Sutter '18 and the entire COB recruitment team we were thrilled to welcome home our newest 16 members. Following spring Bid Day, we will be participating in Greek Week, Moms Weekend, and our annual Heart Health Week. We hope to incorporate as many members in these events as possible while also considering all COVID-19 guidelines. Sisters Conquer Obstacles Together This semester is sure to have its challenges, but I am confident our members can handle it. I am amazed at how our members have adapted to such extreme circumstances. This year will provide us with the opportunity to learn and adapt to whatever life throws in our direction. We can overcome anything that comes into our path, and I will always work hard to make sure we keep growing and learning during these challenging times. Thankful for Alumnae Support I thank everyone for all of the support and dedication to the Omicron Chapter, and I look forward to carrying out the legacy sisters like you started.
