BY JAY BOBBIN 'Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory' still enchants Gene Wilder in "Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory" If you know the movie significance of having a golden ticket, you're likely a member of one of the generations that have embraced "Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory." Freeform shows the fanciful 1971 musical-fantasy Tuesday, March 16 and Wednesday, March 17, with Gene Wilder in one of his most memorable roles as the proprietor of a literal candy land to which young Charlie (Peter Ostrum) and his grandfather (Jack Albertson) are among those granted rare entry. Hollywood has revisited Roald Dahl's story since, with a prequel now being planned, but there's a special magic to the original film that's hard to recapture. A big part of that is the wonderful Leslie Bricusse-Anthony Newley song contribution that includes "The Candy Man," which became a huge and enduring hit for Sammy Davis Jr. (who wanted to be in the picture, but its makers resisted using such an icon and possibly breaking the fantasy). "Movie: Kid 90" During the '90s, "Punky Brewster" star Soleil Moon Frye carried a video camera with her, recording what life was like for a teen growing up in Hollywood and New York City, in an era that predated the internet and social media. Decades later, that footage is revealed in this documentary that also features commentary from Frye's friends and fellow former child stars. (ORIGINAL) "Making Their Mark" From Downunder comes this seven- part documentary series that follows iconic players and executives from six Australian Football League teams as they pursue the ultimate goal of an AFL Grand Final victory during one of the most challenging seasons in AFL history, one altered drastically by the COVID-19 pandemic. (ORIGINAL) "Movie: Biggie: I Got a Story to Tell" Made in collaboration with the rap artist's estate, this documentary from Emmett Malloy gives an intimate portrait of the man whose rapid ascent and tragic end has been at the center of rap lore for more than twenty years. Rare footage and new interviews with friends and family shed new light on the life of the man born Christopher Wallace. "The Falcon and the Winter Soldier" (March 19) From creator Malcolm Spellman comes this miniseries that follows the Marvel Comics characters Sam Wilson/Falcon and Bucky Barnes/Winter Soldier as they embark on a worldwide adventure that puts their abilities to the test as they try to take down old enemy Baron Zemo. Anthony Mackie and Sebastian Stan star as the title characters. (ORIGINAL) Page 8 March 15 - 21, 2021
