Kersey, a 2006 graduate of Red Bluff High School is assigned to the Los Angeles-class fast-attack submarine USS Cheyenne (SSN 773) arrived in Busan, Republic of Korea as part of its Western Pacific deployment. Kersey and other Sailors arrival followed its participation in the bilateral naval exercise Foal Eagle, involving assets from the U.S. and Republic of Korea navies. Cheyenne was welcomed to Busan by a live 50member band, and the welcoming party included Korean girls who placed a flower wreaths around the senior leadership's heads. Cheyenne is homeported in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii and is one of the most capable fast-attack submarines in the U.S. Navy. Embodying a fighting spirit, Cheyenne's enhanced war-fighting capabilities include vertical launch cruise missiles, advanced sonar systems and a state of the art engine room. This sophisticated design provides Cheyenne the ability to operate worldwide, ready for any mission. Kersey joined the Navy in July 2006. Red Bluff Art Association to meet in new location Red Bluff Art Association is changing its meeting place to the Tehama County Library conference room, 645 Madison St., Red Bluff, starting at 10 a.m. Thursday, June 6. There is a drawing session at 12:45 p.m. Since the library is closed to the public at the time of these meetings, entrance is through the south side door on Oak Street. The Association welcomes the public and those interested in the fine arts or promoting the arts. DAILY NEWS RED BLUFF TEHAMA COUNTY Easy Beef Tenderloin Diane Easy Beef Tenderloin Diane was a prize winner in the 1988 National Beef-Cook Off. 4 beef tenderloin steaks, cut 1 1/2 inches thick (about 6 ounces each) 1/4 teaspoon each salt and pepper 2 tablespoons butter 1 tablespoon olive oil 2 teaspoons grated lemon rind 1 tablespoons fresh lemon juice 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce 1 teaspoon Dijon-style mustard Parsley sprigs Paprika Pound beef tenderloin steaks to 1-inch thickness. Sprinkle both sides of steaks with salt and pepper. Heat butter, oil and lemon rind in large heavy frying pan over medium-high heat until hot. Seniors plant trees for Make a Difference Day All seniors graduating from Red Bluff High School have to select a project to help benefit the community. Their project requires that they put in 8 hours of community service over a two-day period. The project seniors Peter Mitzel, Zach Taylor and Evan Sinclair selected was to help a private landowner east of Manton reforest a portion of his property that was burned in the Ponderosa Fire on Aug. 18, 2012. Pat White and his wife lost their house and a number of their possessions along with the standing timber. They are in the process of completing a new home on the property. Of ficers Find Still But Not Moonshiners A midnight raid of officers in the southern part of the county brought to light another still and five barrels of corn mash, reports received in Red Bluff indicate. Constable Charles Johnson of Corning headed the raiding party, it is stated, and he had the cooperation of H. B.
