P erseverance and innovation have been the two main themes of Nebraska Chapter's ever-changing 2020-21 academic year. The fall semester presented a variety of new challenges, including hybrid online and in- person courses, university policy changes, and a quarantine of the chapter house. Despite all these obstacles, the chapter's perseverance and innovation allowed us to strive toward our goal of building men. Members showed perseverance as they adapted to a new way of attending college. Undoubtedly, there were times when students and professors weren't on the same page. Where others may have become frustrated and given up, the men of FarmHouse were patient with professors and aimed for academic excellence. Our perseverance was also evident when we were directed by the Lincoln-Lancaster County Health Department to quarantine the facility due to a COVID-19 cluster. Members worked with their professors in school and managers at their jobs to navigate the two-week period and picked up where they left off when they returned. Innovation has also been on full display, as we've adapted to university policies that ban gatherings over 50 people. Thanks to the available technology in the new chapter house, meetings were run in what we have learned to call a "split-synchronous" manner. Other innovations have included new approaches to fundraising for philanthropic organizations and modifications to the new member education program. The efforts of members and alumni managed to cultivate a fruitful fall semester despite setbacks and restrictions to what we have always thought of as normal. One of the biggest highlights of the fall semester was welcoming 27 new members. This group has never known a college experience outside of COVID-19. Their dedication to FarmHouse despite the circumstances they've endured has been truly admirable. More senior members have taken it upon themselves to tell stories and keep record of what a "normal" year would entail so that traditions and our history of excellence are not forgotten. The new members are incredibly bright and we are confident in the future of the organization.
