OUR CHALLENGES AND NEEDS
W
hile the Chi experience is certainly more than the bricks and mortar of the chapter house, our home undoubtedly plays a significant role
in the development of our sisters and needs to reflect the essence of our shared values and goals. Today, the housing corporation is
pursuing a plan to build a new chapter house for Chi Chapter.
An Outdated Facility
Since Chi moved into our house in the 1960s, there have been several renovations and updates made to
the facility through the years. Specifically, in the last 10 years the study, bathrooms, deck, and kitchen
have been renovated. New A/C units, security features, French drains, gutters, and Wi-Fi were installed. In
the last two years, the fire suppression system was updated and numerous cosmetic and structural repairs
both inside and outside were made. Even with these recent updates, we are facing deeper issues that could
impact our membership satisfaction and recruitment effectiveness.
Need for Additional Space
We are proud to have more than 80 undergraduate members today and anticipate future growth. We have
outgrown the current facility, which was always built for a family—not a sorority. Due to fire department
codes, the dormer no longer has bunk beds, and the house has a maximum capacity of 20 women. The
facility is not built for commercial use and can no longer accommodate our growing chapter.
Setting Ourselves Apart
While Tri Sigma continues to attract outstanding young women, there is no question the sorority house is a
vital recruiting tool. Alpha Gamma Delta built a brand-new house, which opened in 2019, and Alpha Sigma
Alpha renovated in the last five years. Tri Sigma is the last sorority chapter to renovate or rebuild its home.
In addition, major renovations have been made to all campus housing and there are many new or newly
renovated apartment complexes near campus.
Due to COVID-19,
our women hosted

recruitment.
