RETURNING STRONG Alpha Gamma Chapter Faces Challenges Head-on 4 ALPHA GAMMA RHO A lpha Gamma Chapter has remained active on campus throughout the fall semester, despite the challenges presented by the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. Brothers are members and officers of organizations such as the Collegiate Farm Bureau, CALS Ambassadors, the Leadership Institute, the Agricultural and Life Sciences Collegiate Council, and the meat and livestock judging teams. Additionally, several members participate in Florida Blue Key, ROTC, Student Government, Duolos Greek Ministry, and Dance Marathon. Brothers enjoy giving back to our community through service and philanthropy. Last year, we raised a record amount for our philanthropy, Buck-Off, and we donated $25,000 to the Winn- Dixie Hope Lodge of Gainesville. Alpha Gamma also started a new philanthropy this past spring, which donated money and food to the University of Florida's Field and Fork Pantry. Despite COVID-19, brothers came together in the spring and raised over $10,000 for Dance Marathon to benefit the Children's Miracle Hospital. This summer, many brothers strengthened their professional lives through various internships with companies such as Helena, Cal-Maine, Pilgrims, U.S. Sugar, and more. Recently, brothers and alumni attended the Alpha Gamma Rho National Convention on a virtual platform. As usual, national awards were given out. Alpha Gamma Chapter was named a Gold-Status Chapter for this school year. Our chapter humbly received the following awards: Highest Honors for Outstanding Community Service and Philanthropic Efforts, High Honor for Living the Promise and Values, and High Honor for Academic Excellence. Former Noble Ruler Case Emerson '15 won an Outstanding Undergraduate Award. In addition, Dr. Charlotte Emerson won High Honor for Outstanding Advisor. In fact, her efforts led brothers to a record-high GPA this past spring of 3.28. As we look to the future, parents and alumni should feel proud that Alpha Gamma Rho at the University of Florida is continuing to nurture, grow, and give every single day. The chapter is excelling despite COVID-19, and will continue to do so safely this fall and this coming spring.
