Gave us security. Gave us accountability. Kept us from being one of those statistics that go up to the University of Florida for one semester then were done. I decided, I was reluctant. It's only been a year since my name went on the dotted line. I chose to give monthly because just giving a small amount each month through automatic giving can easily reach that minimum goal for each alumnus. There was a safe house for me to live in and that was certainly not something I caused. Someone did that for me. For AGR to stay the great fraternity it is on campus, it's our duty and responsibility." Justin Sharpless '03 ––"I found a brotherhood instantaneously with like-minded individuals. Doesn't mean that we didn't have our disagreements. But we were likeminded and we were all passionate about agriculture. We were in all of the same classes together. We were able to grow closer as brothers. AGR meant a lot to me. It developed me professionally and socially. I can't put a price tag on it, but I am trying to help future generations achieve that. I also have a son who is 3. I want him to be able to have the opportunity to have an AGR chapter at his university." Connor Brock '15 ––"Coming from a small town looking for somewhere like home, I fell in love with AGR and the guys in the house. Just wanted to be a part of something bigger. When it came time to think about the campaign, I think about fundraising in general, it is an emotional thing. For me, fresh out of college, I recognize that it's tough. Starting out young you think, 'Gosh, well what can I do?' But they said every bit counts. It was leading with my heart and justifying with my head later. I think about the story of why I joined AGR. The house was so important. It's where I met those guys the first night of rush and where I made the best friends that I have today. Just hanging out in the house… it's more than a party spot, it was a home away from home. I really feel that everybody in an active collegiate chapter should have that experience. Any little bit helps. And I thought, I'll give what I can. Hopefully there will be a house for years to come for people to continue to give back to their home away from and reminisce on those good time times. Because that's all we do is tell stories now."
