KAPPA DELTA | UNIVERSITY OF MISSOURI PAGE 2 EPSILON IOTA ADAPTS ACTIVE SISTERS SUPPORT EACH OTHER IN A CHALLENGING YEAR T he leaders of Epsilon Iota had to be creative this year with sisterhood activities and new member events due to social distancing and county and campus restrictions. We purchased bonfire pits, many yard games, and special treats to keep our members involved and pleased with their membership experience. ere have been several s'mores nights and days spent in the sun playing cornhole with our sisters, and we are so thankful to be back on campus with one another. Bid Day looked a little different this year as eager new members visited the chapter house in shis, socially distanced and masked up, to celebrate with their Bid Day buddies. Members were decked out in green and white, celebrating our theme of "Team KD." e Kona Ice truck visited with snow cones, members received gis, and many, many pictures were taken to celebrate this long-awaited event. COVID Care and Suppor ve Sisters Aer several members in the chapter facility tested positive for COVID-19, a group of women came together to create a COVID Care Team for our members impacted by the virus. is team consists of members who volunteer to help with little tasks or deliver pick-me- ups to the doors of those in quarantine or isolation. Some of their favors include sending texts, letters, dropping off anything they need, and bringing treats. ese women have been amazing and so supportive of their sisters! Now more than ever, college students are experiencing mental health issues due in part to the pandemic. Sister Riley Hill '19 is passionate about destigmatizing mental health and has worked hard to create a Supportive Sisters group within our chapter. is group meets weekly and discusses a new topic like anxiety, school stress, and positivity, and gives members the opportunity to discuss their own struggles as well as what helps them cope. Kaylee Murphy '19 and Riley Stevenson '20 celebrate the first-ever socially distanced Bid Day on the front lawn of the chapter house. Lauren Chong '18, Ellie Schroeder '19, and Ashley Kelley '20 celebrate as a pledge family following the spring Big/Li le reveal ceremony on Tiger Plaza. Alexis Kleekamp '19 and Sydnie Kaufman '19 take advantage of an outdoor break between rounds of the virtual preference ceremony during recruitment. Achievements and Philanthropy Last spring, Epsilon Iota received the Miracle Cup award for first place in the most competitive bracket of Mizzouon, the largest student-run philanthropy on campus. Our chapter has its own team every year to help raise money to support the University of Missouri Women's and Children's Hospital. Two of our council members were elected to the Panhellenic executive board on October 25. PHA Delegate Jill Humphrey '18 and VP of Membership Olivia Glaeser '18 will serve as VP of finance and records and VP of recruitment external, respectively. We are so proud of their accomplishments and contributions to the chapter, and we can't wait to see what they do in their new positions. In May, Epsilon Iota donated over $19,000 to Rainbow House Emergency Shelter & Homeless Youth Program and continued to support this outstanding organization through our second annual Confidence Week in October. is week was organized by VP of Community Service Alyssa Hahn '18, who held several interactive events such as tie-dye on the lawn, scrunchie pass-out, and a virtual speaker night where she welcomed Jamie Vinick from e Women's Network to discuss confidence and women's empowerment. She also encouraged peers to buy Confidence Grams to send to friends on and off campus as a pick-me-up. is year especially, we are truly thankful for all of our alumnae and their wonderful support. We hope you are healthy and safe and cannot wait to welcome you back in person! Love in AOT, Leah Wahlquist '17 Chapter President mukdpresident@gmail.com Members of the 2020 member class walk hand in hand toward the columns prior to the fall ini a on ceremony.
