Delta Upsilon Chapter of Sigma Chi Kansas State University P.O. Box 442100 Lawrence, KS 66044-2100 Address Service Requested CONNECT ONLINE! - www.kstatesigmachi.com f www.facebook.com/WildcatSig Racism Has No Place at Sigma Chi I n the unprecedented times of COVID-19, we have all been forced to step out of our comfort zone and adjust to several new routines. While we hope that you and yours have remained safe and healthy as this year wraps up, we also wanted to share Sigma Chi's position on another pandemic that has been ignored by many for far too long: racial injustice. Simply put, racism has no place at Sigma Chi. As an organization founded on the core values of Friendship, Justice, and Learning, we must commit to keep learning and do our part to eliminate all discrimination. The International Fraternity shared the following statement across its social media platforms: The Sigma Chi International Fraternity's statement of policy on human decency and dignity remains as true today as when the organization adopted it: "Sigma Chi teaches and is committed to the principle that dignity, self-esteem and respect are the inalienable rights of every individual … A Sigma Chi brother respects another individual's rights, just as he would wish his own to be respected." We stand committed to our seven values, which include integrity, courtesy and self- control, today more than ever before. Our members are expected to live our Sigma Chi Creed and conduct themselves in a way that brings honor to our Fraternity. We strongly condemn all acts of hate, bigotry, racism and violence, and encourage each of our members to maintain a deep understanding of diversity, inclusion and acceptance on our campuses and within the communities in which they live. Our hearts mourn the loss of George Floyd and there are strong arms around any of our brothers who have ever faced injustice and adversity because of their national origin, religion, sexual orientation or race. Today, Sigma Chi's undergraduates are back in our chapter house, honing their leadership skills on campus. Ending racism in the Manhattan community and beyond is a cause they are passionate about. We Want to Hear from You! T ell us what you're up to! How have you lent a hand in your community lately? Do you have any career highlights or family updates you'd like to share with your Sigma Chi brothers? How have you been coping with life during the pandemic? We hope you have a safe, healthy, and happy holiday season. W e need your help spotlighting brothers in future issues of our alumni newsletter.
