CHI PSI • UNIVERSITY OF WASHINGTON • FALL 2020 T he COVID-19 pandemic has uprooted our lives, our families, and our coun- try, but our brotherhood remains strong. It is an honor to share that Alpha Theta Delta received the Thayer Trophy this year. I hope the bonds and relationships developed over the years have remained strong for our alum- ni brothers and for all those connected to Theta Delta. I can say with full honesty that it has been a great but difficult year to be an active brother at the Alpha. We have faced so much adversity, some of which can be attrib- uted to the circumstances we all face through the pandemic. But what I have gained and realized during this time is the adversity and challenge make our brotherhood what it is. UNWAVERING BONDS OF THE BROTHERHOOD I am proud to say that our excellence in academics, philanthropy, and membership development makes us an outstanding broth- erhood year in and year out. But what I truly believe makes us excellent are the bonds developed within the Lodge. Through the challenges we have faced, the trust, respect, and acknowledgment of what we are facing have kept Alpha Theta Delta strong in 2020. NAVIGATE NEW NORM AT THE LODGE Looking ahead to the remainder of the school year and beyond, we hope to resume to our normal fraternity business as soon as possible. This fall has been as unique as they come: we de-densified the Lodge and annex per state guidelines; we shut off the kitchen to all brothers; brothers are getting tested weekly; and as of this writing this, there have been no positive cases of COVID-19 at the Lodge during this fall semester. To keep the fraternity going, we are still electing new positions and are excited for involvement from our PC '20. We have pivoted from social events with sororities to more internal brotherhoods like barbecues. Our program- ming and educational events have also shifted online. CELEBRATING 100 YEARS OF ALPHA THETA DELTA In the school year to come, we look forward to maintaining academic excellence and continued participation in philanthropy and Greek community events, however they may happen. Most of all, we look forward to 100 years of Alpha Theta Delta of Chi Psi at the University of Washington. We cannot wait to celebrate virtually or in person, however the situation seems fit. THANKFUL FOR STEADFAST SUPPORT As #1, and on behalf of the brotherhood, thank you to the parents, families, friends, and our alumni for all the support and guidance you give to the brothers of Alpha Theta Delta. Yours in the Bonds, Jackson Reed '21 #1, Alpha Theta Delta jacksonreed38@gmail.com / (925) 858-6119 CHI PSI PERSEVERES AT UW Brothers Adjust to Unfamiliar Fraternity Life Amid Pandemic With COVID-19 having a big impact on the Greek community this summer, many brothers took weekend camping trips to get out of the Lodge and stay isolated away from the community. Here is PC '18 on such a trip. Alex Benson '23, Guy Gaspari '23, and Hunter Hammington '23 enjoying their summer on a hike at Little Si. Before starting their senior year, four brothers from PC '17 made a national parks trip and stopped at Arches in Utah.
