The winning pictures that are selected are framed and hung in the Children's Waiting room. When children come to court, it can be very intimidating. First place was Emily Kelle, Red Bluff High School, with horse in picture; Second Silvia Salazar, Corning High School, with ballerina in picture; and Honorable Mention Lexie Weldon, Red Bluff High School. First Place for Lincoln Elementary School, was Delaney Weigel, pictured with a framed picture and Miles, the court dog. A very special thanks to our talented teachers: Wes Hendricks, Red Bluff High School, and Mendy Beardsley, Corning High School, for their ongoing support in sharing students' art with the community. The Tehama County Arts Council also lent a hand in supporting the efforts of the Children's Waiting room. All local schools are invited to participate, and submissions were given to the volunteer judges, led by Gina Setter, Court Executive Officer. Our thanks to Dianne Rabalais at The Big Picture, who again generously donated her time and framed the pictures to help bring the children's waiting room alive with children's art. We look forward to even more schools and students participating next year. Our goal is to help the waiting room be "kid friendly" at the courthouse. Submissions for the 6th Annual Art Contest will be accepted on May 7, 2014, with Open House from 2-4 p.m. on May 23, 2014.
