After following in the footsteps of her sister, Wilhelmine Damon Williams '75, Ann became a Delta Mu pledge in 1976. Her daughters, Amelia Haas Parson '07 and Margaret Damon Haas, University of Virginia '12, also joined the sisterhood. Their Tri Delta bonds and each of their respective, positive ∆∆∆ college experiences added a special commonality to their existing family bonds. "It's a fun thing to have this additional kinship with my girls," Ann said. Further carrying on the family legacy at Delta Mu, Ann served as chapter president two years after sister Wilhelmine held the position. It was an experience that gave each of them a chance to develop friendships and life skills in preparation for the world after college. "Serving as Chapter President provided a training forum for developing leadership skills, as well as an opportunity to work with and develop friendships that I might not have otherwise," she said. After receiving her B.S. in accounting, Ann briefly worked in public accounting before switching to commercial banking and then, after graduate school, to investment counseling. "I feel fortunate to have a career that combines analytical and organizational skills with a passion for nurturing and encouraging people," she stated. "As an investment counselor, I have the honor and privilege to work closely with people to help them fine tune their financial goals and develop plans and strategies to achieve them." Ann has also stayed invested with Delta Mu over the years particularly with involvement in pledge class reunions. The first one was a 10-year class reunion at the Round House in 1990. Thanks to the Delta Mu team effort, Ann and her sisters had a great turn out and an absolute blast, recreating many of their favorite DDD college memories….Love Boat Party, hanging out on the roof and even pseudo Chapter Meeting. The second and most recent class reunion was in the fall of 2017 at Orange Beach. And despite the distance and time (40 years) that had passed, once again the turnout was great and everyone picked up right where they left off. "By far and away it's the lifelong friendships that have been the most impactful to me. There is something very real about the bonds that were formed in the Round House," she shared. "I must admit, I was a little curious as to how we would all click after having been apart for so long. I thought we might need icebreakers and structured activities to keep the energy up, but oh no!" Within 15 seconds–at most–upon arrival, sisters were already falling back into the vibes from their pledgeship days—they talked, laughed, and danced for the next (almost) 48 hours together. "If I had not known it before, I realized it then that these bonds are rich and deep," she said. "There are plenty of people I don't keep in touch with as much as I would like. But I know, without a doubt, that given the opportunity, we can always pick up where we left off and further cultivate the friendship."
