BY JAY BOBBIN Since "A Welcome Home Christmas" deals with the reacclimation of returning war veterans (and will be shown on Veterans Day as well), was that theme a big lure for you? I read the script and I started to cry ... with the weight of the veterans (theme), I'd never done something like that before. There was something really special about it, and I told my managers and agent, "I have to do this one. It just feels right." I loved the message behind it, and the ending. I'd never cried reading a Christmas-movie script before. How was it for you to film "A Welcome Home Christmas" during the coronavirus pandemic? It was challenging. We had to shut down a lot; we didn't even think the film was going to end up being made but we were able to power through, and I feel we were all really good teammates in working together around the stress. The first week, I came down with pneumonia. I'd never had it before, so I don't know if I actually ended up having COVID. We had to shut down then, then the next Wednesday, we had to shut down again because a positive test came back. And the third time, I was like, "We're done. There's no way we're going to be able to do this." It ended up taking a month, and our joke was that we couldn't get past a Wednesday. What are your own Christmases like? It used to not be my favorite holiday. My parents are divorced, and I felt like we always had to go from house to house ... but I love Christmas now, because I get to create the traditions with my kids. This year, though, my husband is like, "You are not decorating as early as you did last year!" I put them up on Nov. 1, and he said, "This year, you are putting them up after Thanksgiving."
