P B F 1890 FALL 2020 MINNESOTA ALPHA In Wine and Silver Blue, We Will See This Through Minnesota Alpha Needs Our Support More Than Ever T his year, the world as we knew it changed. We are all facing challenges and have struggled to find our new normal. Minnesota Alpha is no exception. While the future might feel uncertain, we remain committed to our younger sisters and to keeping them safe, happy and healthy. With the challenges we are all facing during the COVID-19 pandemic, it is even more crucial that we meet the immediate needs of our active sisters and the chapter house. We are happy to report the chapter had a successful and safe move-in and virtual recruitment, and we extend our deepest gratitude to the team that ensured Minnesota Alpha was ready for the fall semester: • CHC Members: Margy Hunt Herbert '83, Hollie List Yeager '84 and Marcie Johnson '82 • AAC Member: Julie Miglets-Nelson, Virginia Theta '06 • Undergraduate Members: Mylan Martin '19 and Olivia Anderson '19 • And of course, our House Director: Jan Vanek. Alumnae like you can also help by supporting the Our Home. Continuing the Legacy at 1109. campaign. We are beyond thankful for the sisters who have joined our efforts since we announced the campaign this spring, bringing us more than halfway to our $1 million goal. If you have not yet given, please consider giving what you can through a one-time contribution or by starting a long-term pledge of up to five years. In these challenging times, every dollar is valued and appreciated. Every donor who contributes $2,500 or more will have your name on our donor wall in the house for you to see each time you visit. Several room naming opportunities are still available for commitments of $15,000 and above, including a few group naming opportunities highlighted below. Please contact the sisters listed with any questions about specific room campaigns. • Girls' Kitchen • Hollie List '84 • (763) 245-3753 • hollieyeager@comcast.net • Past Presidents All former chapter presidents • Jessie Quinn Hawthorne '03 • (310) 210-1815 • jessie.j.quinn@gmail.com • Mary Murphy Room Dedication • Mary Mulier '59 • (612) 616-4158 • mary.mulier@comcast.net • Diane Hart Room Dedication • Judy Skoglund '69 • (612) 845-1653 • jskogs@comcast.net It's become a bit cliché this year to say "we're all in this together," but for the Pi Phi sisterhood this sentiment rings true. As an undergraduate, she served as Treasurer and later as Chapter President, both teaching her a tremendous amount about how to be inclusive in any leadership role. A commitment to philanthropy was another core value she embraced, which prepared her for professional endeavors and inspired her to give back to Minnesota Alpha. Her cumulative sorority experience at The U ultimately motivated her to stay connected to Minnesota Alpha as an alumna through the St. Paul Alumnae Club, on the Chapter House Corporation (CHC) and by supporting the capital campaign.
