Alpha Chi Omega 3 I hope everyone in our Alpha Beta family is safe and healthy. Here at 851 David Ross Road, we are adapting to a new lifestyle in the COVID-19 era. The semester feels a bit different, but we are all very happy to be back together. As you all know, our time on campus was cut short during the spring semester. We shifted to virtual learning after spring break and we all went back to our respective homes. We didn't let this stop us from seeking the heights! Alpha Beta remains top three in GPA across all Panhellenic sororities for the spring semester. Despite the distance, we made sure to keep in touch. We hosted frequent Zoom calls with the chapter complete with fun games and social hours. Our fall semester has been going very well so far. We started out with virtual recruitment, which was led by Vice President of Recruitment Sydney Kowal '18, and Vice President of Recruitment Information Gabrielle O'Keefe '18 did a phenomenal job implementing a completely new recruitment plan. I am so proud of them and the rest of our fantastic recruitment team. We wouldn't have gotten an incredible new class without their hours of work. Alpha Beta welcomed 40 wonderful new members through formal recruitment and 1 members through continuous open bidding. These new members will still go through the new member education period and initiation as in past years, just in a reimagined, engaging virtual format. Through these uncertain times, we are still finding new ways to be together while being safe. We have had socially distanced movie nights outside, played outdoor games like corn hole and volleyball and had yoga sessions on the back patio. We will be hosting a virtual trivia night to raise money for the local YWCA to kick off our philanthropic contributions for the semester. Our members are excited about the new chapter executive board position created by Alpha Chi Omega. "The diversity and inclusion chairwoman is the revamped version of the cultural chairwoman. This title holds a lot more power, responsibility and purpose," Diversity and Inclusion Chairwoman Lexi Bullock '19. "The main goal of this position is to educate our sisters on topics that are relevant due to present issues and topics. I am trying to make sure that we are continuing to create an inclusive and accepting environment as we always have. I am so proud of all that Alpha Chi Omega has done to be proactive during these polarizing and extreme times and it has brought me even closer to my sisterhood." I want to thank all the advisors, Alpha Chi Omega House Corporation, Headquarters, alumnae, parents, and faculty that have supported us throughout this unprecedented year. Our executive board and members couldn't have made it to where we are today without the endless support. I would personally like to thank Alpha Beta's collegiate members. They have been instrumental in my growth as chapter president, and I am eternally grateful. They have been patient, thoughtful and compassionate through this challenging, unprecedented time. I couldn't ask for better sisters to go through this together. They are the Real. Strong. Women who I look up to.
