3 Alpha Tau Omega CHAPTER ETERNAL Gerald "Jerry" K. Arnold '72 entered Chapter Eternal on July 23, 2020. Jerry, known as "Merv" at the ATΩ house, was a first team All-Big 8 offensive tackle for the 1974 National Champion Oklahoma Sooners. After finishing with football, Jerry returned to OU and lived at the ATΩ house, serving as Worthy Master in 1976. Jerry settled in Denver, Colo., spending his career as an account manager. He leaves behind his wife, Mimi; son, Jerry; four stepchildren; two grandchildren; and a host of former teammates and ATΩ brothers. Chris E. Politte '79 entered Chapter Eternal on August 17, 2020, the day of his 35th wedding anniversary to loving wife, Jane B. Politte. He leaves behind Jane and his three adoring sons, John, Jake and Jeb. Chris cultivated strong and lasting relationships through his involvement in Delta Kappa. His passion for maintaining these relationships with his brothers was never more evident than at his tailgates at home football games or holding the spot under the tree at the Chicken Shack in Dallas for the Texas game. Chris had a unique quality of being a great listener and was always interested in finding out everyone's story. His penchant for hosting was limitless, whether it was to open his home in Austin for the Delta Kappa 1979 new member class 25th anniversary or the annual Austin City Limits Music Fest for his sons and their many friends and family. He was also a giving person through his volunteering with his son's academic and sporting events, his community, as well as financially supporting Delta Kappa and angel investments. Chris graduated from the University of Oklahoma in 1982 with a Bachelor of Engineering degree. His career with Accenture (formerly, Andersen Consulting) took him all over the country before setting roots with his family in his adopted hometown of Austin, Texas. After spending his career with the Accenture family, Chris retired in 2007 to spend more time with his sons, carefully grooming their interests in Sooner football, Cardinal baseball, the Tour de France, Niki Lauda, gardening, technology, travel, basketball, angry birds, soccer, and many other endeavors. Chris was analytical, quick to make someone laugh, poke fun of and was a prankster as well. Whether it was determining the shortest driving distance between The Mont and Denco's or other events that have still gone unclaimed, you never knew what Chris would come up with next. He will be missed by all who he shared his passion for fun, joy, and generosity.
