T h e EACON Fall 2020 B A L P H A T A U O M E G A • D E L T A K A P P A C H A P T E R D espite COVID-19 putting a damper on many of our usual summer recruitment endeavors, Delta Kappa managed to sign a top-tier new member class. Under the leadership of Recruitment Chairmen Nathaniel Denson '19 and Zack Mots '18, we were pleased to welcome 51 of the best young men who went through recruitment to Alpha Tau Omega. While our recruitment numbers were lower than expected due to COVID-19, we are excited about what these new members will add to our brotherhood. There have many new challenges for the fraternity and the executive board in 2020. When the university sent all the students home in the spring, Delta Kappa had to decide between keeping the house operational or closing it down for the remainder of the semester. After many long discussions with the executive board and the housing committee, we came to an agreement that it was in the best interest to make all brothers safe and close the chapter house. Past President Hunter Frazier '17 coordinated the moves with the in-house members and made the process as painless and swift as possible. Now that we have arrived back on campus, we have been presented with a whole new list of challenges to overcome. The executive team has created rules and regulations to limit the exposure of COVID-19 to our members and to ultimately keep them safe. The new precautions have been well received throughout the chapter and have limited the number cases in the house. Although this year not been all that we have hoped for, Delta Kappa has still been successful in many facets. We raised nearly $20,000 for our local charity, Community After School Program. Delta Kappa also had a top-three GPA among IFC chapters and a top-five new member GPA for the spring semester. Along with having several academic achievements, we won IFC intramural championships in flag football and softball and placed third in basketball. ATΩ has been well represented on campus, as two of our most influential seniors were the Student Government president and vice president last year in Adrian Gibbs '17 and Prince Ohene-Nyako '17, respectively. We also want to congratulate the following brothers for winning prestigious awards from OU. Letzeiser Honor List: Marc Lamanque '17 Campus Life Award: Andres Gonzalez '18 Regents' Awards for Outstanding Juniors and Campus Life Award: Cade Shaw '18 President's Award for Outstanding Sophomores: Haden Bollenbach '19 Delta Kappa is proud to be one of the most respected chapters in the nation and at OU. We are the second largest ATΩ chapter with nearly 210 members. We are committed to building on this momentum so Delta Kappa will thrive for many years to come. We are very excited to see what the next few years have to hold.
