For Howe Wallace '74, ATΩ has been a key to success as an undergraduate and in every job he's ever had. "Being a pledge master and president of the Chapter built my competencies beyond those most undergraduates achieve," he stated. "It allowed me to move faster." As an undergraduate at the University of Florida, Howe received a fraternity grant through ATΩ that funded an internship, resulting in him choosing a graduate school program that contributed greatly to his effectiveness in his profession. And it was a lead from a fraternity Brother that helped Howe acquire the job that began his career of almost 40 years. Howe stays active with ATΩ as an alumnus by volunteering with undergraduate leadership training and most recently serving as Worthy Grand Chief (WGC) for Alpha Tau Omega National Fraternity. "Serving as WGC is incredibly humbling. I've known every WGC who has served since I was initiated," Howe said. "Some I regard as heroes. To be blessed with this responsibility and the opportunity to impact the continued contribution of ATΩ in the world is an honor." His induction ceremony took place in Orlando near Howe's home in Bartow, Florida, and several of his Alpha Omega Brothers were in attendance. "It meant a lot to have them there along with my family to be part of the ceremony," he said. Since being installed as WGC in August 2018, Howe has participated in three chapter installations. "To celebrate the beginning of an ATΩ chapter has been a great joy I hadn't anticipated," Howe shared. As Worthy Grand Chief, Howe recognizes that some ATΩ Brothers miss the benefit of living life based on the principles espoused in the fraternity's ritual. He intends to bring that opportunity to the forefront of the fraternity. "Personally, I have developed a deep appreciation for the principles our fraternity is based upon," he stated. "To live by them is a path to a rich life." After receiving his bachelor of arts degree in journalism in 1977, Howe went on to obtain his master's degree in college student personnel administration at Michigan State University in 1979. He was a program advisor for two years at the University of Georgia immediately following graduate school, and he has held director of human resources roles and vice president positions for various companies over the years. Howe has been the CEO at PalletOne Inc. since October 2001. You can connect with Howe at hwallace@palletone.com or follow him on Twitter, @Hoqwjr. He also writes a weekly blog at HQnotes.com.
