This year, we are excited to present the award to Larry Whitman '86 for all his hard work for the Alabama Beta brotherhood. Thank you for all you do for our Chapter, Larry! Alumni Events W hile we were so excited to host our annual Spring Parents and Alumni Weekend, which would have included a golf tournament along with a cash bar event at the Chapter House, it had to be canceled due to necessary precautions regarding COVID-19. Our annual Back to School Alumni Cookout has also been postponed due to the ongoing pandemic. We will send out any updates on alumni events as the fall semester progresses. David Woodman '56 and his wife Lydia reside in Little Rock, Ark. He is the former Voice of the Razorbacks for the University for Arkansas football and basketball programs. He was inducted into the Arkansas Sportswriters and Sportscasters Hall of Fame in 2018 and received the Regional Emmy award in 2003. Email: woodg4ark@gmail.com John Watkins Jr. '57 and his wife, Sally, returned in mid-January from a 30-day cruise to Chile, Cape Horn, Antarctica, the Folkland Islands, and Buenos Aires aboard the Holland- America cruise ship MS Maasdam. "The Fjords and Chile were as spectacular as those of Norway, which we visited during December-January in 2015-16." They plan to cruise from Copenhagen, Denmark, to Iceland and Nova Scotia in 2020. John and his wife reside in Tuscaloosa, Ala. Joseph Bedingfield '60 has been enjoying life in T-Town for the past 16 years. He is retired and resides in Tuscaloosa, Ala. Greaves '60 was inducted into the Munro College (St. Elizabeth, Jamaica) Old Boys Association Hall of Fame for his many philanthropic and environmental efforts. He and his wife, Jennifer, founded the Adopt-A-Ward In June 2019, several alumni brothers hosted a reunion for classes from the mid-to-late 1990s. The reunion took place in Asheville, N.C. Brothers came across the country to attend and reminisce on their Alabama Beta days. ALUMNI NEWS fund in 1987, which has provided hospitals in Jamaica with life-saving equipment. He has won numerous awards and is responsible for a public park and hundreds of trees planted on the island. John lives in Kingston, Jamaica. James is retired from his position as president from Advanced Consumer Electronics and lives in Clemmons, N.C. Samuel Sparks '71 has enjoyed serving as the Vice President of Alumni Relations on the AVC board as well as helping organize mini- reunions from the 1960s and 1970s. "I encourage brothers from other eras to reconnect and stay connected!" Samuel resides in Hoover, Ala., and retired in 2011. He is the director of compliance with the regional creditor's rights firm of Nathan & Nathan, P.C., based in Birmingham. Bart married his college sweetheart, Lesley Carmichael Lloyd, who is an Alpha Delta Pi from UA. They live in Mountain Brook, Ala., and have three boys: George Emory, Branum, and John Bart.
