THE SKINNY Bigham, the former offensive coordinator at Rogers, takes over for Paul Ernest, who resigned to return to southwest Arkansas after leading the Pioneers to one of the more successful seasons in school history. … Jarnagan, a receiver for the past two seasons, now moves to quarterback and provides Gentry with a run- pass threat. … Crosby ran for 334 yards and 3 TDs in limited action but will see more time in the backfield. Defensively, he recorded 56 tackles as he splits time between tackle and linebacker, depending on schemes … Pyburn had 3 rushing touchdowns last fall, but he earned all-conference honors with 116 tackles and two sacks. … Jackson could catch the eyes of colleges with his ability to catch passes and block, and he recorded 55 tackles and three sacks on defense. THAT'S WHAT HE SAID "Coach Ernest did a really good job while he was here, and the kids really bought into his system last year. There are a lot of similarities between what they did last year and what we will do this year. There are a few changes here and there and the terminology is different, but we are looking forward to building off the foundation they laid last year and continue to go with that. Just taking that momentum from last year and building off of it is huge for us. THE SKINNY The Lions hope to gain more strength in numbers. Gravette had just 22 players when Bohannon was named the head coach last year, and more than 50 players showed up for offseason workouts. … Hilger returns as quarterback after throwing for almost 1,600 yards and 17 touchdowns last season, and he ran for a pair of scores. … Dann is in his third year as starting tailback and had 76 tackles at inside linebacker. … Drake had 28 catches for 412 yards and 4 TDs before he suffered an injury during the opening possession of a Week 9 game against Shiloh Christian, and he also averaged 40 yards per punt. … Coffelt will be a three-year starter on the offensive line, and he compiled 21 tackles as a defensive end. … Duncan had 76 tackles and three quarterbacks as an inside linebacker. … Pilkington had 71 tackles from his safety position. THAT'S WHAT HE SAID "We're really looking to build off of last season. We have a lot of kids coming back from last year's team and really using last season as a building block and propel ourselves into the future. There are a lot of seniors in this class that have put in a lot of work, and we're ready to see the fruits of their labor. The kids have done a great job of recruiting the hallways, and I think a little bit of success in the environment and culture we are trying to build here has helped with our growth. THE SKINNY Tibbitt takes over for Bobby Bishop, who left Green Forest to accept a similar position at East Newton, Mo. … Tibbitt, a former Shiloh Christian assistant, was at Rose Bud last year, but he left after the Ramblers elected to play 8-man football this season. … Green Forest still seeks its first conference win in the 4A-1 after going winless in league play the last two seasons. … Tibbitt brings change to Green Forest's offense as he has installed a Spread formation. … Gordon is a three-year starter as the Tigers' quarterback, and he was an all-conference selection as a defensive back after recording 80 tackles last year. … Soto started half the season had ran for 135 yards and 4 TDs against Yellville- Summit before he suffered an injury in midseason. … Perez is a three-year starter at center. … Serna had 77 tackles last year, but he moves from inside linebacker to outside linebacker. … Phillips returns to the secondary after he recorded 64 tackles last season. THAT'S WHAT HE SAID "We are a team that is going through some changes, and any time there is a coaching change there are going to be changes involved. We are going from a power-I, three-back formation to a Spread offense that is more wide-open, and the kids have bought into it.
