THE
Looking to the Future
Colorado Alpha Chapter Needs Your Help
T
he Colorado Alpha Chapter of Sigma Phi Epsilon
had a very unconventional and trying 2019-20 school
year. During the fall semester, a class of approximately 35
new members was initiated and we made the decision to
transfer from the unaffiliated IFC on the Hill to the new
university-affiliated CU IFC. During the spring semester, we
underwent a membership review that reduced undergraduate
membership to 21 brothers (three sophomores and 18
freshmen). Due to the cease of operations placed on the
chapter from late January through the middle of March,
and the subsequent developing COVID-19 situation, it was
not feasible to organize our annual Checking for Cancer
philanthropy event.
Unfortunately, diminished membership has made it
impractical to open the chapter house for the 2020-21 school
year. Various options are being considered for the future of
the chapter house, and no final decisions have been made
yet. In this time of rebuilding Colorado Alpha, we are
asking for alumni support in key areas of operations.
For alumni seeking to engage with the chapter, we are
looking for mentorship for chapter leadership roles. If
you are interested in helping out with mentoring chapter
leadership, please contact Joel Saslaw, Sacramento State
'10 at (661) 525-6182. We are also creating a professional
development program with alumni involvement and are
seeking volunteers from various industries to assist with
this. If you are interested in helping provide professional
development for undergraduate brothers, please contact our
vice president of communications, Taylor Vogel '22, at
(720) 375-1535 or taylor.vogel@colorado.edu. As we try
to increase undergraduate membership, we ask that if you
know of any young men who would make great SigEps,
please refer them to our vice president of recruitment,
Brendan Mcmanus '23, at (720) 254-0676 or brmc9947@
colorado.edu.
On behalf of the active members of Colorado Alpha, I thank
you for your continued support of our chapter. We look
forward to returning to campus in the fall and hope to host
alumni events again soon!
Fraternally,
Nicholas Schultz '23
