"We are excited about providing quality, homegrown, grass fed and grain supplemented beef to Americans. is whole Covid-19 food chain issue has provided us with a greatly needed opportunity to supplement farm income." Nathan is concerned about the future of the family farm and he feels for younger people who are just starting out. "It's sad that a young person cannot buy a farm and pay for it with profits off of it and make a good living at the same time," Nathan lamented. "You have to have another career to make it work. Cowboys are a dying breed. We do it because we love the life and lifestyle. I pray that by the time my children, Oaklie and Huntlea, are old enough to take the reins that beef is a true commodity. You cannot duplicate the work ethic that is learned from growing up on a farm. Tracy and I wouldn't raise them any other way." He said his children are witnessing Ogden Ranch's evolution into the USDA Retail Beef Market. "Our nation is facing a huge food supply problem and we are trying to make the most of it and do our part by providing quality beef while Americans are embracing the value of the Farm to Table business model." e Ogden family farm is a true family enterprise. Everyone lends a hand and is part of the farm's ongoing success. "Tracy handles the accounting duties of Ogden Ranch," Nathan noted. "She is also the go to person on the USDA meat sales. She also makes sure we are all fed when we are working on the farm." Eight year old Oaklie and seven year old Huntlea enjoy helping to feed and check the new baby calves. ey are almost at the end of their full bottle calf experience. e kids also have their own specialties. "Oaklie is usually a definite partner when I feed on the weekends," Nathan said. "And Huntlea's specialty is making sure the horses are petted." But Nathan also makes a point of giving credit to someone else who is vital to the success of Ogden Ranch, and that's their ranch manager, Steve Bartholomew. "I worked for Steve and the Bartholomew family at the Washington County Sale Barn as a youngster. We couldn't have asked for a better or more experienced cattleman to run our ranch," Nathan said. "And God's timing on our need and Steve's availability was perfect, too. I would say he is like family but really, he's my 3rd or 4th cousin so, technically, he is family."
