P B F 1890 SUMMER 2020 MINNESOTA ALPHA F or nearly 130 years, the Minnesota Alpha Chapter of Pi Beta Phi has served as a uniting force for generations of women at the University of Minnesota. When we look back at our own Pi Phi experience, we recall how the friendships, loyalty, service and personal growth — even decades ago — helped shape who we are today. Our membership was an unforgettable experience, and at the heart of our sisterhood was our chapter house. "My time living in the house was the most rewarding. I made friends with women that I didn't think I would be close to. Pi Phi brought me my closest friends that I know will be walking alongside me my whole life," said graduating senior Callie Ferreira '16. In 1927, our beloved Pi Phi house at 1109 Fifth Street was built, just for us. Years later, our house is in dire need of an update that will once again cater to the uniqueness of Pi Phi. Through careful assessment, it was determined that a renovation to our chapter house was the most cost-effective option to ensure the facility meets the needs of today's students, while allowing Pi Phi to remain competitive on campus. This renovation will honor the history of our beloved home while resulting in a more functional space for our growing chapter. Given these immediate needs, the Chapter House Corporation (CHC) and capital campaign committee are proud to announce the campaign, Our Home. Continuing the Legacy at 1109. To make this project a reality, the significant support of every alumna is needed. Initial commitments from 29 generous alumnae, undergraduates and friends total over $350,000. This early support exemplifies the value alumnae place on their Minnesota Alpha experience and adds to the reason we feel confident that we will reach our goal of $1 million with your help! Minnesota Alpha Announces $1 Million Campaign Reviving 1109 FiFth StReet FoR a new geneRation As our seniors look back on their four years, they remember the value of living in 1109. "Living in the house and sharing memories with so many different sisters was special. Every day was something new and I will forever cherish living in," said Lexi Enxing '16. Giving back to Minnesota Alpha in support of the chapter house means giving to the future of Pi Beta Phi. It is imperative that we offer our young women a space to be together, a space to carry on the Pi Phi legacy. "This amazing group of women is so empowering, encourages me always, pushes me out of my comfort zone and really helped me find my voice as a woman," said Lexie Meyer '17. In the coming weeks, you will receive additional information detailing the project, the campaign and ways in which you can help. We will be honored to have you join our growing list of supporters who are leaving their legacy and providing for future generations, as previous sisters did for all of us. Thank you for your loyalty, consideration and support of Pi Beta Phi at the University of Minnesota.
