Concert THE BUZZ Courage Houses: Providing Restoration and Healing by STEVE TURLEY This week in The Buzz we will highlight a new music project that brings awareness to the reality of human trafficking. We will also take a look at a new song that comes to us just in time for the National Day of Prayer. Come Back Home, a compilation album produced by Phillip LaRue and Ben Phillips, was inspired by the moving poetry and stories of the girls at Courage House — young girls rescued out of the horrors of sex (human) trafficking both in the U.S. and in Africa. The funds to produce this album were raised Proceeds from the album Come Back Home privately so that 100 percent of benefit Courage House, a rescue organization the sales can help build Courage for victims of human traficking. Houses around the world. Exclusive songs were written and donated for this project by Jars of Clay, Mike Donehey of Tenth Avenue North, Us and Our Daughters (Phillip and Lia LaRue), The Reel and more. Courage Worldwide is an international, non-profit organization that is building homes around the world for children rescued out of sex trafficking. Their passion and vision is to build Courage Houses in every city that needs one so rescued children will have a safe place to call home. They also want to eradicate sex trafficking completely. With Courage House locations open in Northern California and Tanzania, and with efforts underway to build a home in Hawaii, they are committed to not only rescuing child victims of trafficking, but also to restoring their lives. The National Day of Prayer occurs each year on the first Thursday in May. This year's theme, Pray for America, is based on Matthew 12:21 which reminds us that "In His name the nations will put their hope." Sanctus Real wrote a song specifically for this nationwide event. About the song, lead singer Matt Hammitt says, "We wrote the song 'Pray' because these are anxious times. From my television screen to my Twitter feed, I'm confronted with a minute-by-minute timeline of the latest news from around the world. Sometimes it's not world news that leaves me anxious, but parts of my own little world that seem to be falling apart. In those moments I have to remind myself of what's behind our personal life challenges and the world's headlines, the fist of a dictator and the face of a politician, the cape of a hero and the mask of a villain. In every conflict, no matter where we live or which side we're on, behind every struggle is what the Apostle Paul described in his letter to the Ephesians. 'For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places.' – Ephesians 6:12 These are indeed anxious times, and heaven and earth are at war. Every public headline and personal challenge is a reminder, as well as a call, not to lift our hands in despair, but rather to continue lifting our hands and voices in prayer."
