M
embers are staying connected through
their Facetime/video chat calls. In these
tough times, our sisters' support is what gets
us through.
The left photo includes collegians who are all
in the same GPhi family: Anna Suppes '18,
Abby Rushton '19, Sami Sogge '17, and Julissa
Bakken '16. In the right photo are five close
sisters who were living in the house at the
time the University closed: Shanna Utecht '18,
Tessa Yackley '18, Sydney Mallum '18, Taylor
Boeke '18, and Tori Pedersen '18 .

Lois Cole Schaffer '48 is 90 years old and
lives in an assisted living facility. She got
rid of her computer and cell phone and is
busy every day. "It takes a long time to do
nothing," she says. She includes the following
quote: "Each time we vote, we celebrate the
advances made by the brave women who
came before us. Every woman in America
should commemorate those achievements by
casting a ballot on Election Day. We owe our
forbearers nothing less."
Joan Beerline Szabo '62 is still living in
New Jersey but misses Nebraska. There are
several sisters from her hometown of Ord,
Neb., and she sends greetings to them. They
may remember her parents, Glen and Freda
Beerline.
Jill Cunningham Tomson '72 is a retired
Spanish teacher. The majority of her time
now is spent caring for her two dachshunds,
Shadow and Butterscotch. She also tutors in
Spanish. Her husband, Bill, still works for the
Department of Defense in civilian contract
administration. Life is good for them both.
Jill enjoys shopping, lunch dates with friends,
Red Hat and Bunco monthly meetings.
Diane Korinek Johnson '74 can hardly
believe it has been 46 years since initiation
year for her. "My pledge class of 1973 was
extraordinary." She regrets that they are all
scattered here and there. Diane would love
to plan a reunion once the world reopens
again.
Patricia Andrews Bacon '83 says "Dear Pi
Chapter Sisters, I send love and prayers
during these unchartered and sometimes
frightening times of global pandemic. Please
be safe. Love to you all."
Jordyn Champoux '15 got on a board at a
boutique hotel and had the opportunity
to open it up from ground zero. She is the
marketing and relations manager running
social media and advertising campaigns along
with the front desk day-to-day operations.
Emma Top '15 is continuing her education at
the University of South Dakota. She is now
closer to her family, especially her quickly
growing 6-year-old brother. Emma has been
adopting cats with her boyfriend, Liam.
