A SLICE OF PI GAMMA PHI BETA AT THE UNIVERSITY OF NEBRASKA-LINCOLN • SPRING 2020 H ere at Pi Chapter AHC, we work diligently to create and maintain a safe and beautiful home for our collegiate sisters at UNL. As you know, we are in the midst of planning and raising funds for the renovation of the dining room, one of the most important spaces in our home. It's where our sisters gather each day to share a meal, to study and spend time with one another. I certainly remember trekking down the back stairs to the dining room for popcorn and whirl before a marathon study session. You may have received our request for funds to support this renovation project. For those that have already supported this effort, thank you! We are so grateful for your generous consideration. And it's not too late to join with your pledge sisters and sponsor a table. We will honor all pledge classes that contribute collectively $5,000 or more. I know that times are tough, and this is not the first thing on anyone's mind, but if you would like to be a part of this project consider reaching out to your sisters and joining together to help us reach our $100,000 goal. In addition to this important project, our college home has other needs, including new cement work in front, updated landscaping, and new heat pumps. It's been such a pleasure to serve Pi Chapter for the past several years, both as treasurer and now as AHC president. I am happy to announce Kara Brostrom '09 as the incoming president. You can learn a bit about Kara in this issue of A Slice of Pi. I certainly know that our home is in good hands with Kara and the other members of AHC. Serving Pi Chapter has been a true labor of love, and I'm grateful for the opportunity. I encourage you all to consider how our sisterhood may benefit from your leadership in the future. I want you all to know my thoughts are with you and your families. I hope that each and every one of you is safe and healthy. This spring has brought an interesting and unprecedented challenge to the University of Nebraska-Lincoln campus community. Like colleges and universities across the nation, classes transitioned virtually and alternative living arrangements had to be organized. Most of Pi Chapter's members returned home while the Chapter worked with members to help ease the transition in step with local and state-directed health measures. The AHC Board is in constant contact with the chapter officers as well as the University Office of Fraternity and Sorority as this situation continues to change. We are moving forward with our projects as well as maintenance and repairs. The house will reopen for members when possible and in accordance with local and state guidance, as well as decisions made at the University level. We are more thankful than ever for the years of sound stewardship; Pi Chapter's financial situation is very healthy and is not in question. We will send updates as soon as we have them. We appreciate each and every one of you and look forward to the future and growing in our sisterhood of Gamma Phi Beta. - Kara Brostrom '09, Incoming Pi Chapter AHC President
