The Bank reported net income of $240,000 for the three months ended March 31, 2013 representing an increase of $21,000, or 10%, compared to net income of $219,000 for the same period last year. Diluted earnings per share for the three months ended March 31, 2013 were $0.19 compared to $0.17 for the same period last year. The return on average assets for the three months ended March 31, 2013 was 0.84% compared to 0.93% for the same period last year. The return on average equity was 8.02% for the three months ended March 31, 2013 compared to 8.49% for the same period last year. President and CEO, Jeffrey Finck stated, "We are off to a solid start in 2013 with over 20% growth in loans, deposits and income before income taxes." The net interest margin increased to 4.49% during the quarter ended March 31, 2013 compared to 4.44% during the same quarter last year. Provision for credit losses The provision for credit losses for the three months ended March 31, 2013 was $85,000. There was no provision for credit losses for the same period last year. Non-Interest Income The Bank's non-interest income for the quarter ended March 31, 2013 was $139,000 compared to $115,000 for the quarter ended March 31, 2012. Non-Interest Expense Non-interest expense was $1,021,000 for the quarter ended March 31, 2013 compared to $915,000 for the same period one year earlier. Balance Sheet The Bank had total assets at March 31, 2013 of $115.3 million, compared to $97.3 million at March 31, 2012, representing growth of $18.0 million, or 18%. Total loans outstanding at March 31, 2013, net of unearned income, were $80.5 million compared to $63.4 million at March 31, 2012, represent- ing an increase of $17.1 million, or 27%. Total deposits were $103.0 million at March 31, 2013 compared to total deposits of $85.4 million at March 31, 2012, representing an increase of $17.6 million, or 21%. Credit Quality The allowance for loan losses was $1,411,000, or 1.75% of loans, net of unearned income, at March 31, 2013, compared to $1,246,000, or 1.96% of loans, net of unearned income, at March 31, 2012. Nonperforming assets at March 31, 2013 were $175,000 compared to $182,000 at March 31, 2012. The bank recognized $135,000 in net loan charge-offs during the three months ended March 31, 2013. Capital Adequacy At March 31, 2013, shareholders' equity totaled $12.1 million compared to $10.4 million at March 31, 2012. At March 31, 2013, the total risk-based capital ratio, tier one capital ratio, and leverage ratio was 14.06%, 12.81% and 10.13%, respectively, all exceeding the regulatory standards for "well-capitalized" institutions of 10.00%, 6.00% and 5.00%, respectively. Arrests • Cresencio Angel Corona Jr., 19, Corning was arrested at Kaufman and Houghton avenues for felony possession of a controlled substance, possession of a dirk or dagger and misdemeanor paraphernalia. Bail was $33,000. • Jose Chavez Magana, 34, Red Bluff was arrested on S. Main Street for five felony counts of failure to appear, two special allegation add-ons, possession of a controlled substance and misdemeanor failure to appear. Bail was $165,000. • Jose Luis Medina, 40, Hayward was arrested on northbound Interstate 5 near Sourgrass for felony possession of a controlled substance and misdemeanor driving on a suspended license. Bail was $18,000. • Juan Carlos Rubio Jr., 19, Corning was arrested on Kaufman Avenue for felony possession of a controlled substance and misdemeanor paraphernalia. Even with a valid wood permit, woodcutters are only allowed to leave a Forest road to gather firewood, as long as this activity does not result in damage to natural resources. Powerless Someone reported a vehicle running off the road and hitting a power pole at 4:09 p.m. in the area of Route 99W and Fig Lane. A second caller on the incident reported he had snagged a wire with his mower, knocking out a transformer. The man said he was not injured, but had snagged a guide wire, causing the lines to arc and knock the power out. There was no damage to the line and PG&E was notified. Fuelwood Cutting Map, and woodcutters are urged to check the map to ensure that they are on National Forest land and are cutting in permissible areas. Zone V woodcutters are also required to call the 24-hour number, 530-257-4188, for current restrictions. No woodcutting is allowed in timber sale areas or other commercial operations marked with "No Woodcutting" signs. Trees marked with paint may not be cut or removed, including those on the ground, with the exception of downed lodgepole pine. The price of personal wood permits remains at $10 per cord, with a minimum purchase of two cords per permit. Multiple permits may be purchased, up to a 10 cord limit. Disturbance Someone reported a disturbance at a residence on Del Norte Avenue in Corning in which a man was yelling at a woman, threatening to batter her. The persons involved were contacted and told officers they had been in a verbal dispute over living conditions, but had resolved their issues and were moving on Friday. Theft A man in the area of Dollar Tree reported the theft of $143 in cash and a $475 money order.
