Phi Sigma Kappa 3 M arch 15 marked the 147th anniversary of Phi Sigma Kappa's founding. Delta Triton's commitment to promoting brotherhood, stimulating scholarship, and developing character has added to Phi Sigma Kappa's legacy. The Delta Triton active chapter lived up to the principles of our brotherhood to be successful in several areas during the spring semester. Stepping Up for Special Olympics Seventy-five brothers participated in Polar Plunge to raise $8,555 for Special Olympics. Purdue raised the most money for Special Olympics out of all the Polar Plunges in Indiana with $86,101. Building Our Brotherhood Delta Triton was pleased to welcome 25 associates this spring. They have already made a tremendous impact on our chapter. In March, they volunteered at the Columbia Zoo to do some landscaping. The associate class and active brothers bonded during an associate retreat to a repurposed school in Kentucky. The spring associates will be initiated in the fall. Making the Most of the Spring Semester While our time together on campus and the chapter house was cut short this spring due to COVID- 19, there were still some great memories made. In March, we enjoyed the company of our mothers on Phi Sigma Kappa Mom's Day. Twenty-two mothers joined us for activities like brunch and banner painting. Delta Triton was also excited to finish second in Phi Sigma Rho's Dodge in the Dark tournament, which raised awareness for leukemia. An Unforgettable Fall There was a lot of excitement surrounding the chapter following a fun-filled fall semester. Delta Triton initiated 15 of the 17 brothers from the fall associate class. Along with growing closer with each other, it was wonderful to welcome brothers from Epsilon Tau at Ball State for a weekend last fall and visit with several alumni at Homecoming. Other great activities from the fall included going through the pumpkin patch and corn maze with the women of Phi Rho and volunteering at Belzer Scout Camp. Looking to the Future The chapter house is at full occupancy with 57 brothers living in next year. Our brotherhood has strength in numbers with 100 brothers in the active chapter. We also want to extend our best wishes to the 17 brothers who are graduating this spring.
