Arrests • Angelina Joan Defratus, 67, Red Bluff was arrested on Bend Ferry Road for felony receiving known stolen property. Bail was $15,000. • Joshua Kenneth Gayle, 33, Vacaville was arrested for felony petty theft with priors and misdemeanor driving on a suspended license. Bail was $100,000. • Michael David Harrington, 36, Red Bluff was arrested under the Sand Slough Bridge for felony possession of a controlled substance and misdemeanor public intoxication. Bail was $15,000. • Dustin Porter Hayes, 23, Cottonwood was arrested on Bywood Drive for felony assault with a deadly weapon and misdemeanors of hit and run property damage and vandalism. Bail was $36,000. • Gabriel Forrest Holton, 32, Chico was arrested for felony possession of concentrate cannabis, selling marijuana and misdemeanor receiving known stolen property. Bail was $50,000. • Tom Rene Torres, 54, Corning was arrested for three felony counts of failure to appear and one misdemeanor count. Burglary • Around 8 p.m. Tuesday deputies responded to Senior Dance, 7 p.m., Senior Center, Josephine a reported burglary to a residence on Sweetbriar Street, 384-2100 Place in Lake California. The residence had been posted an uninhabitable by the County Enforcement Officer. Unknown suspects entered the residence through a side window. The suspects then ransacked and vandalized the residence by spreading paint on several interior walls and damaged furniture. Two BluRay players, a Sony PlayStation, cookware, a long bow and desktop computer were taken. The estimated loss was $900. • Deputies responded to a burglary at a residence on Houghton Avenue in Corning around 5 p.m. Tuesday. Unknown suspects entered the house using a pry-type tool and took items from the home and garage. A broken red Honda lawn mower, a black push-type broom and red flashlight were taken. The estimated loss was $105. • Around 4 p.m. Tuesday deputies responded to a reported burglary on Belle Mill Road. Unknown suspects entered an unlocked house while the owner was away. A gold with diamonds wedding ring set, a HP laptop in a black and gray backpack-type case, a silver and turquoise cross charm and a gold cross were taken. The estimated loss was at least $3,000. • A burglary was reported Tuesday at Flying A Trailer Park. • A break-in was reported at the Palm Royal Apartments. Death wish Around 7 p.m. Tuesday deputies received a report of a man with a white tshirt and green pants jumping in front of vehicles near Highway 99W and Smith Avenue and begging the occupants to hit or shoot him. Fires • A mechanical-caused commercial structure fire reported at 4:26 p.m. Friday at Lassen Forest Products, 22829 Casale Road, did $5,000 damage with a $300,000 save before it was contained at 4:40 p.m. • A two-acre vegetation fire reported at 3:08 p.m. Tuesday in the area of Tehama Avenue, cross of Rawson Road, in the El Camino area was caused by a debris burn escape. The fire was contained at 3:33 p.m. • The cause of a residential structure fire reported at 4:22 p.m. Monday in the 23000 block of Sacramento Road in Richfield was electrical. The fire was contained at 4:29 p.m. • A debris burn caused a fire reported at 5:53 p.m. Friday in the 200 block of James Avenue in Red Bluff. The last unit cleared at 6:08 p.m. Disturbance Several 911 calls were received just before 9 p.m. Monday regarding a burglary in progress at the Spring Mountain Apartments, 240 Edith Ave., in Corning that was possibly a domestic disturbance and a car traveling at a high rate of speed that crashed into a building. Nothing further was available. Dumping Someone reported about 9:30 a.m. Tuesday seeing a person in a white Dodge pickup in the area of Toomes Avenue and Fig Lane dumping items near an orchard. The person, who was picking up scrap items from a property, was contacted and advised to stay off someone else's property. Be cool About 10 a.m. Tuesday police were looking for a suspicious vehicle in the area of Houghton and Gallagher avenues in Corning. The search was for a silver Volkswagen last seen in area about 10 minutes prior. The reporting party said a woman driver stopped the vehicle, opened the door and fell out. The woman got back in, asked the reporting party not to call the police and continued driving. Thefts • Linnet's Tire Service on Route 99W in Corning reported Monday morning the theft of a U-Haul truck sometime over the weekend. The truck was rented out and was supposedly returned on Saturday when the business was closed. Keys were accounted for. • A Corning man reported about 1:15 a.m. Tuesday that sometime within the last three minutes someone had stolen his Sears generator from his residence on Mobile Drive. The generator is orange and mounted on two wheels.
