« SFE PAGE 4 Q: Is 1000 Alder Street still viable or should we move again? A: The AVC leadership debated this topic right away. We would undoubtedly have an interested buyer in NCU and, like last time, it would be willing to appropriately compensate us for our land. However, alternative properties that bring us closer to campus while also offering the space needed for parking, outdoor activities and a facility to meet the needs of our members do not currently exist. At this time, we believe 1000 Alder best meets our needs. A PROPOSED VISION TO A STRONGER SIGEP W ith input from current chapter members, the AVC has developed preliminary plans to address the previously mentioned areas of opportunity. While we have invested a great deal of time in these proposed solutions, we have intentionally not yet devoted financial resources to develop exact concepts we have in mind. 1 SOLUTION We must undertake a major renovation to address the systems in the facility and on the property. This ensures that the house lasts for another 60 years while also preparing for aesthetic upgrades in the short- and long-term future of the facility management plan. 2 SOLUTION To retain high occupancy levels, we must offer similar room features while also balancing our members' ability to customize their rooms. Supplying adequate storage along with modern furniture to maximize the area in each room will complement our members' desire for more personal space. 3 SOLUTION Enhancing common areas to reflect a substance-free home will greatly reduce the chances of unsanctioned social uses. The proposed improvements would include: • Renovating basement party room into a chapter study and meeting center to offer state-of-the-art technology, individualized and small-group spaces. • Transform the library to a parent and alumni room offering a semi- private room to preserve historical information, host gatherings, honor notable alumni and donors, and limiting use by active members. • Upgrading the living room to increase seating, enhance the uses for media and audio for game day and other UO athletics. 4 SOLUTION While improving the house, we can concurrently secure contributions to increase our general scholarship endowment, three named endowments and Balanced Man scholarship. SigEp Foundation's current model can award approximately 4.5% of the total endowment. Our goal would be to award $20,000-$25,000 in scholarships and leadership initiatives annually. Renovation Goal $2,000,000 + Endowment Goal $500,000 = Campaign Total $2,500,000 Note: Our preliminary estimate of $2,000,000 is based on a renovation plan of $150 per sq. ft. of the 13,500 sq. ft. to be addressed and is for discussion purposes only.
