Page 5 S A E CHAPTER ETERNAL Ronald Clark '62 entered Chapter Eternal on December 12, 2019, after a long battle with pancreatic cancer. He leaves behind his best friend and wife of 55 years, Claudia (Otten) Clark, his three children, and eight grandchildren. He always enjoyed learning and earned a bachelor's degree from DePauw University and bachelor's and master's degrees from Purdue. He was a proud SAE at both universities. Ron earned another master's degree in aeronautics and astronautics from Massachusetts Institute of Technology, as well as a Ph.D. in electrical engineering from Polytechnic Institute of N.Y. He worked for 39 years as a civilian engineer for the Navy department at Naval Avionics and Raytheon. Ron was a member of the Indiana Organic Gardeners' Association for over 20 years and thoroughly enjoyed helping new gardeners learn to garden organically. Ron was much loved and will be missed for his kind and quiet manner and his wonderful sense of humor, which he held onto till the end. Bobby Kehrt '62 passed on to Chapter Eternal on November 5, 2019, after a struggle with Parkinson's. He was one of four varsity athletes in his SAE new member class, joining Terry Dischinger '62, Dave Hoehnen '62, and Herb McGuire '62. Bobby was a left-handed guard and played with Terry on the varsity basketball team. His brother, Charlie Kehrt '59, also played basketball at Purdue. After graduation, Bobby worked for Granger. Bill Vinonich '62, who was Bobby's roommate for a few semesters, described him as a "wonderful, studious, quiet young man." Prior to arriving at Purdue, Bobby played basketball at Terre Haute Garfield High School, where his father was the coach. Edward Chouinard '63 entered Chapter Eternal on December 14, 2019, at age 78. He served as treasurer and president of Indiana Beta during his undergraduate days at Purdue. He went on to earn four degrees and a private pilot's license. Edward started his career with Owens Corning Fiberglass Company Technical Center in Grantville, Ohio. He later worked as the international marketing director of Great Lakes Chemical Corporation in West Lafayette, Ind. In 1981, Edward purchased Standard Tar Products Co. in Milwaukee, Wis. Edward and his wife, Sharon, worked there for 27 years, packaging and selling calcium chloride to melt ice and snow on highways and produce wood preservatives for log homes. Their most famous product was SNOMELT. After the sale of Standard Tar Products Co. in 2008, Edward and Sharon retired to the Houston area to be close to their grandchildren. Edward was a member of Wisconsin Chemical Group and served the American Chemical Society for 50 years. He was a dedicated and generous SAE brother. As an alumnus, he consistently volunteered his time and effort to give back to his fraternity. Family vacations and baseball were two of Edward's favorite hobbies. Throughout his life, he was extremely generous and known for going above and beyond for his family and friends. ALUMNI NEWS Wayne F.
