NEBRASKA CHAPTER 3 J on Camp '68 took his father's advice to heart. "Use your God-given talents, follow your passions and success will follow. Our great nation and forefathers have provided its citizens with 'opportunities.' What we make of those opportunities determines our level of success." When Jon found himself face to face with FarmHouse in high school, the Fraternity represented high values. Annually ranked number one on the Nebraska campus in academics, FarmHouse brothers were leaders in numerous campus organizations and activities. "My grandfather, Raymond Camp 1911, was a founding member of the Nebraska FarmHouse Chapter." Jon's brother, Tom Camp '73, continued the Camp family FarmHouse legacy. After earning his law degree at Stanford University, Tom practiced in the field of entertainment law at Gang, Tyre, Ramer and Brown in Beverly Hills, California. Jon is proud of his chapter membership and pairs his pride with the expression "soaring with the eagles." FarmHouse instilled lifelong values in members. The role models that surrounded Jon throughout his time with FarmHouse led him to push the limits in education, a successful career and the passion to be active in his community. Jon is a native of Lincoln and the longest- serving member of the Lincoln City Council. He shares that his parents and mentors encouraged him to engage in community activities to ensure the quality of life Lincoln possesses. Serving has allowed him to be a part of the future of Lincoln with his "Lincoln Vision 2020" slogan and taking the heavy role of an elected official to ensure the betterment of his beloved community. A project Jon has dedicated time and funds to is Haymarket Square Developers. In 1982, he sensed a renaissance in Lincoln's Haymarket District, which had fallen into blocks of empty warehouse buildings. With three partners, they purchased four buildings, adopted the historical name Haymarket Square, and commenced complete historical renovation of those buildings. "We are proud to have founded the modern era of Lincoln's Historic Haymarket, which has grown to be the center of activity in Lincoln." For those local to Lincoln, there is no doubt you have visited, and to those who want to look at what Jon and his team have done, along with a list of activities, visit www.lincolnhaymarket.org. While the strong values of FarmHouse reinforced his father's advice on achieving success, Jon's FarmHouse brothers also provided support during some tough years following a life-changing auto accident. He appreciates his brothers and chapter advisor, Stan Matzke '53, who continued to advise him throughout life. "I have been blessed with innumerable FarmHouse alumni who have enhanced my life." Charles Lamphear '61, a faculty member in the UNL College of Business Administration, was instrumental to Jon in attaining his bachelor's degree as well. "I am amazed at the many FarmHouse alumni who have entered my life. Their friendship and accomplishments have energized me to work harder and reach higher in my life." Education June 1971: Bachelor of science degree in business administration and pre-law May 1977: Juris doctorate degree from the Nebraska College of Law Family Son Jonathan is the father of his sole grandson (to date) and works with Jon in the Haymarket Square Development.
