University of florida, sigma Phi ePsilon information www.flalPha.org SigEp Gator Heart S ince Florida Alpha regained its charter, the Chapter has done a tremendous job in recultivating a culture of success. With the recolonizing members graduating in the fall of 2019 the culture is the legacy that will live on. If we think back to some of our own fondest memories at Florida Alpha, would those experiences be the same without the people and culture of our day and age? Through leading with authenticity and raising the bar both fraternally and interpersonally, the culture continues to grow the Florida Alpha Chapter by attracting high-caliber men with a diverse set of backgrounds and aspirations. This was incredibly apparent on the recent trip to Carlson this past January where 30 undergraduates and five alumni attended the Carlson Leadership Academies. This was one of the largest contingents of the entire region and Florida Alpha was celebrated for both individual accolades and Chapter awards. Congratulations to the following individuals and volunteers: • Tragos Quest to Greece Scholar Brady Alexander '22 • Frank J. Ruck Leadership Award Ryan Loveland '20 • Volunteer of the Year Award Jeff Opalko '81 Congratulations to the Chapter on the following awards: • Chapter Home of the Year Award • Donald C. McCleary Excellence in Member Development Award Read more on our prestigious awards on page 2! The Chapter has raised the bar for success yet again and I look forward to watching this culture grow on campus at Florida Alpha. Another large part of Carlson was the rollout of the strategic vision for SigEp nationally. With the 125th anniversary of Sigma Phi Epsilon's founding in 2026, the national board spent the last year updating our strategic plan so we can continue our courageous leadership in the fraternal world. A brief summary of the strategic plan purpose is as follows: We recruit young men who are committed to our cardinal principals of virtue, diligence, and brotherly love, who seek to develop a sound mind and sound body and who aspire to become balanced leaders in partnership with higher education. …We challenge them to think critically and lead courageously and prepare them to have a positive impact in the world. How do we become not just the best Fraternity on campus but the best organization on campus? The strategic plan hinges on three pillars: People, Experiences, and Environment. To help do our part, the AVC would like to share more experiences with our people (you), your Fraternity brethren and the current Chapter in an event every spring semester. We will be sending out a questionnaire on this event in the coming months and would greatly value your input to make the event something we can all look forward to annually outside of Gator football in the fall. If you would like to get more involved in volunteering in any capacity, please reach out to me via email and let's have a conversation.
