"When we were pondering whether to make this crazy leap and abandon our corporate lives," Dave recalls, "my wife's aunt said to me, 'You only get one life. This ain't a dress rehearsal.' That really stuck with me, and I pass that nugget along every chance I get." Dave advises those considering getting into the small-business world: "Seek out and hire the best people, with strengths that you do not necessarily possess. Give them agency to make a difference, inspire them, and treat them like family. The rest will work itself out." Working at Kayak Connection allows Dave to do what he loves most in his spare time: kayaking! He also enjoys running in the redwood forests of Santa Cruz and spending lots of time with Jessica and their teenage daughters. Dave invites any brothers in the area to come visit Kayak Connection.
