Capital Campaign SuCCeSSfully Completed! thank you for your Support SIGMA CHI FRATERNITY AT KANSAS STATE UNIVERSITY Spring 2020 SAVE THE DATE Alumni Tailgate October 3, 2020 vs. Texas Join your brothers and cheer on our Wildcats as they take on the Longhorns! More details to come. A s many of you know, Kansas State made the difficult decision to move the spring 2020 semester to on-line classes only in the face of the Covid-19 pandemic The dormitories are closed to all but a few hardship situations and the Greek housing system was asked to close as well. The Manhattan Sigma Chi Association (the Housing Corporation) made the difficult deci- sion to close 1224 Fremont for the semester be- ginning Monday, March 16. The young men of Sigma Chi were saddened to leave Manhattan but understood the necessity of these dramatic actions. House Director Rochelle (Rocky) Johnson worked closely with Chef Torrie to get the kitchen shut down and with House Manager Chase McIlvaine to secure the house prior to locking it up. Many planned events of the spring have been cancelled including Derby Days, a KC post- Derby Days alumni event, Mom's Weekend and spring formal. Despite these necessary changes, the men of Sigma Chi are continuing to meet virtually to plan needed activities. Rush Chair- man Ben DeZube '22 has 10 young men signed already with 20 bids outstanding. He expects a full house in the fall of exemplary young men. I am continually impressed by the resilience of these men. All of us look forward to a return toward normalcy and hope to see many of you next fall at the Tailgate on October 3. In Hoc and Be Safe, Doug Burton M.D. '89 Sigma Chi Addresses Covid-19 B rothers, Delta Upsilon Chapter of Sigma Chi deeply appreciates your support over the past several years. We have accomplished incredible things together, most notably the renovation of our chapter house, which was completed last year. Our capital campaign, A New Era, officially concluded on December 31. Together, we raised $2,693,801. For all our hard work and dedication to this effort, we should be extremely proud. annual Support Still needed While nearly 82% of the dollars pledged to support the capital campaign have been received, your future gifts and pledge payments are critical. (It is essential we receive every dollar pledged.) The house corporation pays the mortgage and provides direct support to the physical structure and the undergraduate chapter. Your continued support will help us reduce this cost. Keeping our operating costs low will ensure our chapter fees remain affordable and competitive with other fraternities on campus. We want all of today's outstanding young men to be able to afford the life- changing experience Sigma Chi provides. alumni involvement eSSential to Chapter We urge you to find a way to maintain or increase your involvement with the chapter this year. Quite simply, our mission is to serve each other and our undergraduate brothers. We have numerous opportunities to assist the chapter and reconnect with one another. We are grateful for your support and encouragement. In Hoc, Doug Burton, M.D. '89 House Corporation Chairman
