Bud served in the U.S. Army overseas after the Korean War. After his military service, he worked for several years managing his family's restaurant. He then worked for the Del Monte can manufacturing plant, working his way up to the canning production/planning manager for the eastern half of the United States. After retirement in 1993, he owned Bud's Antiques in Cadiz, Ky., for several decades. He attended the Chana United Methodist Church for more than 40 years, serving on various committees, helping with church dinners and as an usher. Bud was an avid Chicago Bears and Cubs fan, enjoyed going to auctions and estate sales, playing golf and, in his younger years, softball, supporting his grandchildren's activities, and spending time with family. Walter Bagot '57 entered Chapter Grand in January 2019. Although an avid fisherman, Walter's career in the advertising agency business spanned more than 40 years. At his retirement, he was executive vice president of The Jackson Group, an Indianapolis marketing organization, and had served as chairman, president or CEO of several of its divisions. Prior to joining the Jackson Group, he was a vice president of Backer, Spielvogel, Bates, an advertising agency in New York City. He has also served as executive vice president of Garrison, Jasper Rose and Company in Indianapolis, and vice president of Marketing of Noble Roman's Inc. For much of his life, he bred purebred Arabian horses. He served for 26 years as a governing member director of the Arabian Horse Registry of America in Denver, Colo. He also served on the executive committee of the World Arabian Organization based in London, England. Walter is survived by his wife, Martha, two stepchildren, two grandchildren, and two stepgrandchildren. Lt. Col. Stephen W. Hadley '67 entered Chapter Grand on April 11, 2019, at the age of 73. After serving as group commander of Air Force ROTC at DePauw for the class of 1967, Steve spent 27 years in active duty in the Air Force. Faith was a very important aspect of Steve's life. He was a lay leader for several terms and was a baritone in the choir at Center United Methodist Church. John Douglass '68 entered Chapter Grand on June 8, 2019, after a battle with sarcoma. John enjoyed nearly 50 years of marriage to his wife, Emily. After John received his law degree, he worked for Green Giant in Le Sueur, Minn., and then at Ecolab in St. Paul. John worked his way up to the role of vice president of finance before retiring in 1998. Community service was important to John, as he was a volunteer with several charities and served on boards at Minnehaha Academy, North Park University, and the Covenant Church. John enjoyed spending time at his cabin in Boulder Junction, Wis., walking the beach in Harbert, Mich., and traveling to new places. John loved the outdoors, especially visiting national parks and playing golf. Robert O. Douglass '72 entered Chapter Grand peacefully, after a long and courageous battle with multiple myeloma. He was the beloved husband of Teresa, loving father of Elizabeth and Andrew, cherished grandfather of Drew, Zachary, Anna, Norah and Greta, and devoted brother to Susan Sandstrom, Wylie, John, David, and the late Daniel. A kind friend and mentor to many, Bob's smile and his gentle spirit will be greatly missed.
