A s Winter Quarter comes to a close, I've been able to take some time to look back on my first quarter as #1 and see the progress and growth over the past few quarters. In many ways this has been a year of progress with exciting new ideas, positions, and improvements implemented throughout the Alpha. While this quarter and last have come with some struggles, the changes made throughout this year make me excited for the future of the Lodge and the direction we as an Alpha are headed. We are all looking forward to finishing this year strong and welcoming whatever 2020 has in store. A Tradition of Academic Excellence The Alpha has enjoyed a great deal of success in several different areas in 2019 and into 2020. Notably, the Alpha has excelled in academics, demonstrated by 3.46 cumulative GPA. We are proud to earn the Alpha's 12th straight top-five finish among all fraternities in academics. Theta Delta Takes Pride in Philanthropic Efforts We improved on our philanthropic efforts through our more than 1,500 hours of service from the brotherhood. We were once again able to break our record during our annual Stuff the Bus philanthropy event by making more than 23,600 meals for families in western Washington. To top it off, Cooper Layman '23, who was crowned Mr. Greek, raised $16,000 for Alpha Gamma Delta and Treehouse for Kids. These are just a few of the accomplishments that make our brotherhood extremely proud. We are motivated to reach even loftier goals next year. Alumni Activity An exciting new addition to our fall calendar came in the form of our revamped Founders' Day event. Sponsored by the central office and led by Napoleon Huynh '17, this event took place at Art Marble 21 in South Lake Union and served as a fantastic opportunity for alumni and actives to network with one another. Looking forward, we are planning to have our First Annual Founders' Day Golf Tournament in the spring! It is our hope that events such as this can become commonplace in our calendar to provide ample opportunity for the alumni and actives to grow closer. Please be on the lookout for more details on our alumni relations efforts, especially as we near our centennial in 2021! Carrying Out Our Recruitment Efforts We had the pleasure of welcoming 20 outstanding young men into the Lodge during the fall. Langston Glover-Castro '21 and Pete Kenny '21, led our strong recruitment efforts this past year. Carrying on recruitment into the new year Trevor Garrood '22 and Guy Gaspari '23 look to bring a new group of gentleman into the lodge. Thank You, Alumni! The undergraduate members of Theta Delta are thankful for the continued support from alumni. We greatly appreciate all the alumni network has done for us and we hope to make you all proud through our efforts.
