The Latest Renovation Updates and Financial Details is has been a challenging volunteer project, but we continue to hear from Nu alumnae who have had life-changing experiences while living in the Chi Omega house in Madison. e opportunity for young women to live, study, and work toward mutual philanthropy goals needs to be preserved. We have made significant progress on our renovations. During the summer of 2019, we completed a major renovation of the bathrooms on the second and third floors, as well as a tiny bathroom on the lower floor. ese new bathrooms were very well received by both the Nu undergraduate sisters and alumnae and will be important when recruiting potential new members to join Chi Omega. If you are in Madison, stop by the house and ask for a tour. We have accomplished a lot during this renovation using the House Corporation reserves and our capital fundraising donations. Nu has not had to take out any loans and remains debt free. 2020 and 2021 Summer Project Needs e dining room is ready for an update. It needs new paint, electrical wiring and lighting, ceiling fans, dining furniture, window treatments, and updates to cabinets. We also plan to use part of the room as a study area to gain educational space, which is required by Chi Omega Foundation for future grants. is space will need tables, chairs, lighting, electrical outlets, and a printer. e upstairs bedrooms are due for plaster repair and new paint, carpeting, beds, desks, and dressers. e windows will need to be cleaned and refinished. e Nu Chapter House is historic, so we need to keep all the original elements of the design. ese two projects combined will cost $350,000. e Nu House Corporation Renovation Fund has $105,000 in the bank. We have future pledges of $172,000 that will be funded by 2022. We need $73,000 additional gis and commitments to finish our renovations. NU CHAPTER CAMPAIGN ENDING JUNE 30 SISTERS, HELP US REACH OUR $1 MILLION GOAL How You Can Contribute to the Campaign We are so grateful for the supportive Nu alumnae who are making it possible for these much-needed renovations to happen. If you have not already donated, we strongly encourage you to think about joining your sisters in our campaign. We are counting on you to help Nu Chapter complete the renovations. Your tax-deductible gi can be made to the Chi Omega Foundation. We have grants in place to be able to receive the funds less the 5% the Chi Omega Foundation receives. e Chi Omega Foundation can accept stock donations as well. We are working on a plaque that will identify our campaign donors. Chi O Is a Cause Worth Supporting Nu Chapter is doing well with more than 213 members, including a large new member class of 90 young women. e collective efforts of our undergraduate sisters helped Nu Chapter maintain a 3.51 GPA and raise $125,000 for the Make-A- Wish Foundation. Most of the sophomores and select cabinet officers live in the house. Our current level of 37 live-in spaces has been sufficient to handle requests. At this time, we have put the attic renovation on hold and will keep you updated if we need more live-in space. Chi Omega National has maintained a strong level of involvement with Nu Chapter to ensure our traditions are honored and help enforce our no- alcohol and zero-tolerance hazing policies. I have been involved with Nu Chapter since 2015 and have seen a culture of sisterhood re-emerging at the house. We had a spring 2019 reunion that was attended by 50 alumnae. If you have already made a commitment, please accept our heartfelt thanks for your gi to Nu Chapter and please consider doing just a little bit more to help us reach our fundraising goal before the campaign concludes on June 30.
