In 2019, the chapter raised over $5,700 for Peaceful Paths, a domestic violence center in Gainesville, Florida. Members also hosted Purple Rain, an annual dodgeball tournament with dodgeballs soaked in purple paint to represent the color for domestic violence awareness. This event was a huge success and gained the support from many organizations around campus. We hosted a new event, Cocoa with AXΩ, in early winter. Members sold hot cocoa and desserts at the house and enjoyed seeing other Greek life members and Gators in general. For Healthy Relationships Week in February, chapter members tabled on Valentine's Day. The women discussed the importance of healthy relationships and communication by handing out pins with the saying "Love is…" on them, for passing students to write what they thought love meant to them. Also, donuts and key chains were passed out as members focused on emphasizing awareness. Many individual sisters saw recent success as well! Delaney McCabe '17 was awarded head Pi Chi on Panhellenic and now leads the other Pi Chis for fall 2020 recruitment; this is a huge honor in Panhellenic! Morgan Hill '16 is the marketing manager for Dance Marathon at UF, which is one of the event's main positions. We are always heavily involved in DM and have a lot of our chapter members involved as dancers, captains, or ELPs; so this too is a great honor. Our student government involvement also increased and excelled this year with Karen McGee '19, Bree Adan '18 and Noemi Galeano '19. I was tapped into Florida Blue Key, a prestigious service organization on campus. Other clubs and organizations our members are involved with are Preview Staff, Project Makeover, Gator Growl, UF Homecoming Leadership Pageant, Miss UF, Gatorettes, Floridance, Danza, Order of Omega, Strike Magazine, First Year Florida Peer Leaders, and more. Members of our chapter received internships to companies such as CNN, Merrill Lynch, Royal Caribbean, UF Health Shands, and Peaceful Paths. Others were accepted into pharmacy school, law school, nursing school, and a host of other graduate programs. 2019 was a successful year for this chapter, so bring it on, 2020. The members of Alpha Chi Omega-Gamma Iota are ready for you! Loyally, Jasmine Essa '17 Chapter President ufaxopresident@gmail.com A New Decade at Beta Eta Chapter Celebrates a Successful 2019 Last year on Denim Day, our sisters gathered in denim to recognize sexual assault and domestic violence awareness. Denim Day is in honor of a sexual assault case in Italy where the verdict of the case found the attacker not guilty because the victim's jeans were too tight. We wear denim in April to protest the misconceptions that surround sexual violence.
