Alpha Mu News Alpha Mu Chapter of Kappa Delta at the University of Mississippi | Spring 2020 F or nearly 90 years, the Alpha Mu Chapter of Kappa Delta has served as a uniting force for generations of women at the University of Mississippi. When we look back at our own Kappa Delta experience, we recall how the friendships, loyalty, service, and personal growth—even decades ago—helped shape who we are today. Our membership was an unforgettable experience, and at the heart of our sisterhood was our Chapter House at 84 Sorority Circle. Over time, Greek life at Ole Miss has grown, with a total of 10 sororities on campus to date. With member classes gradually increasing, our facility isn't large enough for all members to eat formal meals together, and Chapter meetings are bursting at the seams. Nearly every sorority on campus has already rebuilt or undergone renovations to provide a more modern home with ample space for members, and while Kappa Delta continues to recruit and attract top-notch women, it is important that we stay on par with the facilities that other sororities are offering. To remain competitive, it's clear we must make a major investment in our Chapter House. The needs of today's college students are continuously changing. Given these immediate needs, the Alpha Mu House Corporation and capital campaign committee are proud to announce the Building on a Tradition of Excellence, Honoring 90 Years of Alpha Mu campaign. Our vision includes a new Chapter home that will allow for increased spaces for all active members to study, eat, and socialize together. The Kappa Delta experience is rooted in the ability to spend time as sisters— to learn and grow as women together. We need to ensure this is possible for future generations. To make this project a reality, the significant support of every alumna is needed. Initial commitments from 135 generous alumnae, undergraduates, and friends total more than $1.7 million. This early support exemplifies the value alumnae place on their Alpha Mu experience and adds to the reason we feel confident that we will reach our $2.5 million campaign goal with your help! In the coming weeks, you will receive additional information detailing the project, the campaign, and ways in which you can help. This is a time to reflect on your Kappa Delta experience. Remember the impact this sisterhood made on you and imagine how this Chapter will affect future women. We will be honored to have you join our growing list of supporters who are leaving their legacy and providing for future generations, as previous sisters did for all of us. Thank you for your loyalty, consideration, and support of Kappa Delta at the University of Mississippi.
