his spring, Jonathan Abele '20 will graduate with a
bachelor's degree in political science with minors in
economics and English. Although he will be leaving the
Beta house, Jonathan will stay close to home and begin his
journey to practice law at OSU Moritz law school. "I am
deciding to pursue both a law degree and an MBA since the
two degrees will allow me to advance justice and promote
accountability within corporations," Jonathan said.
As a successful student and member of Beta Theta Pi,
Jonathan will never forget his impactful time in the
Fraternity. "Beta Theta Pi's core values have meaningfully
guided my decisions throughout my undergraduate
career and made me a stronger person," Jonathan said. In
addition, the Fraternity introduced him to lifelong friends
and provided him with valuable resources for success in
academics as well his future career.
Jonathan has fond memories of his four years at Ohio State, but his fondest are with Beta
and specifically the initiation ceremony. "I felt incredibly honored to join such a strong
brotherhood of individuals who shared and represented my values," Jonathan said.

Memory and Our
Mystic Shrine
Walter Waits, D.D.S. '65 entered Our
Mystic Shrine on June 6, 2019. He received
his Doctorate of Dental Surgery from Ohio
State University and served in the Air Force
at McGuire Air Force Base. He practiced
dentistry at McGuire from 1968 to 1970, then
in Doylestown, Pa., from 1970 to 2007. Walter
married Claudia Gidcomb Waits on December
19, 1964. They shared a loving life together for
54 years. Upon retirement, Walter and Claudia
moved from Buckingham, Pa., to Lehighton,
Pa. Walter enjoyed a healthy lifestyle of fishing,
hiking, and participating in his grandchildren's
active lives. He and Claudia also enjoyed
traveling with his brother and sister-in-law.
He was a gentle, loving, and artistic man who
connected easily with many wonderful friends.
Walter is survived by his wife, three children,
and his five grandchildren.
William Bartolovich '95 entered Our Mystic
Shrine on July 6, 2019.
