S IG MA PHI EPS IL O N t O R EG O N AL PHA CHAPT ER t O R EG O N S T AT E U NIV ER S IT Y WINTER 2020 THE SECOND CENTURY CAMPAIGN: InvestIng In OregOn AlphA's Future W hether we graduated two years ago or 20, a lot has changed since we became alumni. We've launched careers, moved, gotten married, started families—the list of news is endless. To keep us better connected and maintain our ΣΦΕ bonds, the house corporation is reestablishing our alumni relations program after a short hiatus. OREGON ALPHA—ALUMNI EDITION Since we know your busy schedule may not accommodate a trip to Corvallis, we're bringing updates to you! You'll receive two editions of the Oregon Alpha newsletter each year. Inside this edition you'll find updates on the campaign, active chapter, interviews with alumni and house corporation news. SHARE YOUR NEWS AND UPDATE YOUR PREFERENCES TODAY! Have you recently moved? Got a new job? Or do you want to receive Oregon Alpha communications via email only? Please share your news with us and update your communication preferences by emailing our campaign coordinator at ssmoot@ penningtonco.com. Thank you for helping us stay connected beyond college! FOREVER ΣΦΕ No matter how many years have passed, we're all members of Sigma Phi Epsilon for life. Alumni support is essential to maintaining our brotherhood, and we welcome support and volunteers at every level. By joining the board, donating to the capital campaign, or simply sending article ideas for the newsletter, you can play an important part in Oregon Alpha's future. We look forward to bringing you the latest news from 224 NW 26th Street, starting with an update on The Second Century Campaign: Investing in Oregon Alpha's Future. THE CAMPAIGN MOVES TO PHASE II Following our 100th anniversary celebration and phase I of the campaign, phase II has been slowed as we addressed the complexities of property and zoning details. Recently, the replat for 26th Street was completed by Northstar Surveying and recorded with Benton County; we are awaiting a bid from Hughes Excavating to cap off the sewer before the replat for Arnold Way can progress. A leaking union has been repaired, putting the boiler back online. However, the updated expansion plans are more complicated. We are working with the College Hill West Historic District and the City of Corvallis to obtain approval and necessary permits in order to move forward with our plans. It is our intention to report this fall with detailed construction plans, schedule and financial information. While nearly $1.4 million has been committed from 181 donors, it will take support from every brother to get us across the finish line. I encourage you to reflect on why you joined this fraternity. Each of us committed to a lifetime membership in Sigma Phi Epsilon during initiation. Now it's on us to ensure that membership still benefits undergraduates and alumni alike. Here's to the next chapter in our fraternity's future—I hope you join us in writing it! Fraternally, Ken Maddox '75 Campaign Chairman (541) 954-1171 OREGON ALPHA UPDATES ALUMNI COMMUNICATIONS PROGRAM - PRINT AND ONLINE Stay Connected to ΣΦΕ and Support Its Future Alumni and undergraduates came together for an impromptu dinner in December.
