Our focus this fall was maintaining a positive and welcoming image on campus while engaging in the local community through multiple philanthropic efforts. Four Dekes Honored with Phi Beta Kappa Status We're honored to recognize four recently graduated brothers who have been inducted into Phi Beta Kappa, the oldest scholastic honor society in the country. Congratulations to brothers Evan Hull '19 (Westwood, N.J.), Chad Malinowski '19 (Cortlandt Manor, NY.), Chris White '19 (Poughkeepsie, N.Y.), and Mike Yablong '19 (Winnetka, Ill.) for their academic achievements. Guest Lecturer Brings Insight to Campus Safety We kicked off the fall semester with a very important event led by Dr. John Foubert, Ph.D., who gave a very powerful presentation on sexual assault prevention and bystander intervention. His presentation was very engaging and all the brothers participated, learning tons of important information we can use as leaders on campus. Inaugural Pie-a-DKE was a Smashing Event Gamma Phi made a tremendous impact on the community by raising money for the children of Macdonough Elementary School. We raised over $1,200 through t-shirt sales and the first-ever Pie-a-DKE event at this year's homecoming football game against Williams. After the game, active brothers and alumni congregated with their families in the old stone house for drinks and tales of past Dekes. Dekes Represent in Football, Hockey, and Academics The football team has had quite an exciting year as they defeated Amherst and Williams to win the Little Three Championship. Captains Ben Thaw '20 (Staples, Conn.) and Ryan Schutta '20 (Lansdale, Pa.) have done an incredible job leading the team both on and off the field. Starting quarterback Ashton Scott '22 (Brockport, N.Y.), cornerback Danny Banks '22 (Montclair, N.J.), and David Estavez '22 (River Edge, N.J.) have been huge impact players and have all received NESCAC offensive or defensive player of the week this season. As the winter sports season begins, the men's hockey team looks to make some serious noise this year led by returning All-American and captain Walker Harris '20 (Boulder, Colo.), captain Spencer Fox '20 (Fonthill, Ontario), and assistant captain Matt Zandi '21 (Mount Kisco, N.Y.). Off the ice, brothers are excelling in the classroom with Spencer Fox and Andrew Gamma Phi Brothers Have Strong 2019 Dekes Demonstrate Outstanding Leadership Across Campus Pitcher '21 (Burlington, Vt.) both receiving NESCAC All-Academic honors.
