3 CHI OMEGA SISTERS ON PURPOSE I joined Chi Omega during the fall semester of my freshman year. At that time, Cal had been so welcoming and fun, but nothing compared to the comfort and sisterhood I received once I entered Chi Omega that first day of recruitment. I met my Big, Benni Cinkle '16, on the first day of recruitment. I also met my Grandbig, Alexandra Origenes '15, while she was on PHC. Little did I know, she would end up not only being a part of my sorority but a part of my family. During Big/Little week, I learned I was going to be a twin with Isabella Dyc-O'Neal '17 who quickly became my best friend. Our family has grown and will continue to grow, but I am so lucky to have been touched by all these wonderful women. Chi Omega has not only been one of the best experiences of my college years, but it's been the place I go to feel loved and supported. These women constantly lift each other up and they always bring a smile to my face when I need it most. I love this chapter and every sister in it has a specific purpose, bringing a unique feature that makes our chapter house a home. I've enjoyed the philanthropy events, sisterhood pumpkin patches, hikes to the Big C, and many more memories that I will cherish forever. I love the women in this sorority and when they say we are "Sisters on Purpose," they certainly mean it. Loyally, Jillian Vallejo '17 FRIENDSHIP OUR SISTERHOOD IS A FAMILY Mu means a lot to me mostly because it is made up of strong, passionate, creative, and intelligent women. I am lucky to get to call them my sisters, and they pushed me to grow in ways I never would have expected. The first time I walked into Chi Omega during recruitment, I felt like it was home. Since then, I have felt no shortage of inspiration and warmth from the women in this chapter house who have been friends, role models, peers, leaders, and sisters to me. Mu is filled with incredibly diverse women whose interests include medicine, depolarizing politics, and mentoring youth in local communities. It wasn't until recently that I realized the impact sisters had in the greater community. This summer, I had the privilege of interning at Make-A- Wish, Greater Bay Area. After being inspired by my Great-Grandbig, Hannah Farrell '16, and her involvement with the organization, I was introduced to the internship program by Janet Belton '90. Through working with the individual giving team at their offices in downtown Oakland, I learned about the nonprofit industry, worked on projects within their database, wrote wish stories, and directly connected with Make-A-Wish's mission. Since then, the philanthropy work we do as a chapter has been more personal and meaningful to me. I can't wait for all the memories yet to come and I'm so excited to be this semester's director of sisterhood along with Daniella Dror '19.
