Chi Omega Association 1609 Graff Ave San Leandro, CA 94577-3936 Address Service Requested MU NEWS Χ Ω Save the Date BRAVE THE BAY December 7, 2019, at 9:00 a.m. Aquatic Park in San Francisco A s a California native, Marissa Parry Clavin, Alpha '02, immediately felt at home as a chapter advisor for Mu. After traveling from the West Coast to the Midwest for school and back to California for work, Marissa found comfort in Chi Omega connections across the country. Her life-changing experience with the sisterhood has shown her that Chi Omega truly is for life. "This is home and one of the first places I reached out with to help," Marissa shared. "The women of Mu are the most inspiring women in terms of knowledge and the different things they are going to pursue in life. It's unbelievable." Stemming from her own amazing experience and chapter advisors who helped shape her into the person she is today, Marissa was inspired to give back to Chi Omega. She hopes to help today's undergraduates understand the lifetime membership aspect of the sisterhood and serve as a pillar of support for them during the challenges they face in college. "Chi Omega isn't just for four years, and there's so much it can offer you long term. That's something I always try to hit home with and drill into them, so they really see that aspect of it," she said. "My goal is to ensure they are always taking care of themselves." Marissa understands that college is a hard time and a tough age of transition. She wants to make sure that Mu sisters are in a good place and that Chi Omega is supporting them. "I want to make sure Chi Omega is adding something for them and not taking anything away. I care deeply that each of the members feels cared for and supported." Marissa recognizes the need for adjusting the way she interacts with the women from time to time to keep up with the generational changes. "They are brilliant, they care, and they want to give back to the chapter," she said. "The ability to help them and to talk about the impact Chi Omega has had on me, specifically, or has on them, is incredibly rewarding." Marissa lives in the San Francisco Bay Area with her husband, Michael, and their three children: Logan, Jacob, and Kennedy. Marissa opened a bridal shop, Brides on Hartz, in Danville, California, in 2018. You can connect with Marissa and find out how you can help Mu chapter at marissaclavin@gmail.com.
