2 MU NEWS HONORING THE CARDINAL AND STRAW Mu House Corporation Awards Exemplary Chi Omegas D oes the phrase, "You are always wearing your letters," bring back memories of your time as an undergraduate member? While consistently expressed across generations of Chi Omega, we oftentimes forget what this adage means. The Mu House Corporation seeks to honor those undergraduate members who keep that phrase at the forefront of their collegiate experience. At our recent award ceremony on November 21, we were proud to honor the following women. Ada C. Tallman Award Julia Norman '18 Carolyn "Dee" Pearce Recruitment Award Selena Melgoza '19 Vonie Dondero Tru Mu Award Anna Ginther '17 Margaret P. Conant Award Katherine Kemp '18 Margaret "Sis" Collins Award Jillian Vallejo '17 T he Chi Omega Association is so pleased with the "Chi-brary Refresh" that was completed since our last Mu News publication. This project included refinishing the hardwood floors along with purchasing new sofas, chairs, and a table for the bay window nook. We also reupholstered some of our existing furniture. We are grateful to House Director Casie Kolbeck for significantly guiding all of these projects. Going green is important to our members, so we decided to install solar panels as a hot water booster system. The back parking lot was repaved and stripes repainted. This has improved ease of parking and safety since there are no holes and cracks from tree roots to trip over. Phase One of our retaining wall and drainage improvement project was completed. Now, there are handsome wooden fences replacing chain link and deteriorated fences on both the north and south front sides of the property. The style of the fencing mimics the deck, creating a cohesive look on the property. In being safety conscious, we installed additional security cameras inside and outside of the chapter house, with strategic tree trimming. The house corporation welcomed sisters back to school with a surprise from Mr. Softee dessert truck. What a pleasure it was to catch up on everyone's summer activities while enjoying the decadent cones!
