6 President Paul McIntyre '22 Naperville, Ill. Civil engineering - construction management Paul hopes to effectively navigate the changing Fraternity culture, starting with SigEp's transition to substance-free housing. Fraternity life nationwide is changing in a drastic way, and it's important we have leaders who are strong enough to handle this undertaking. Additionally, he aims to fill the chapter house to capacity by the 2020-21 academic year. Outside of fraternity life, Paul is involved with intramu- ral teams and is an avid fan of the Fighting Illini basketball team. Vice President of Member Development Brian Federico '22 Grayslake, Ill. Industrial engineering /consulting Joining SFE has helped Brian become a balanced man who can excel in all aspects of life. As an officer, Brian hopes to give the new members the same profes- sional development that he received as a freshman and help them become better men. He is ready to help chapter with recruitment, philanthropy and more. Outside of Sigma Phi Epsilon, Brian is a volunteer head coach at the local park district, helping lead practices and games for kids between the ages of 10 and 13. Vice President of Programming Bob Sampson '22 Itasca, Ill Civil engineering Bob wants to make sure the mem- bers of the Fraternity maintain a strong Brotherhood and good relationships with sororities on campus. He has so- ber events in the works, including attending base- ball games, tailgates, bowling, and SESL, to name a few. Similarly, the brothers of Sigma Phi Epsilon look forward to the semi-formal events coming up later this semester and next spring. All the event planning the vice president of programming does allows the president to focus on the responsibil- ities of the chapter and less on strengthening the bond between brothers. Outside of SigEp, Bob is on the club volleyball team where he hopes to hold an executive role in the future. Chaplain Calvin McIntyre '22 Naperville, Ill. Systems engineering, bioengi- neering, design program Calvin hopes to redefine chapter rituals as a more serious and concentrated effort, as well as provide a strong backbone for the fully implemented substance-free legislation. When not focused on the Fraternity, he enjoys participating in the Illinois Track Club, playing strategy games, and sketching. Vice President of Recruitment Gabriel Matar '22 Naperville, Ill. Industrial engineering with plans to minor in business or technolo- gy and management Gabe would like to work in the operations side of a commercial airline, improv- ing travel processes. He is also interested in working in technical sales, where an engineering background is required. Outside of the chapter, Gabe is involved in the Institute of Industrial and Systems Engineers and a men's group at Newman Hall. Last year, Gabe worked for a tech startup founded by Wesley Kramer '19. Gabe went through recruitment for a business fraternity this semester as well. As a member of Sigma Phi Epsilon, Gabe has gained valuable professional mentors and a set of peers who have pushed him to be better. As a chapter officer, Gabe hopes to recruit a set of new members who reflect our commitment to being Balanced Men socially, physically, and academically. Vice President of Communications Walter Gulumian '21 Bartlett, Ill. Aerospace engineering Aside from SigEp, Walter is the secretary of the University of Illinois Astronomical Society and is a research assistant in the Electric Propulsion Laboratory. This semester, Walter created a weekly chapter newsletter to keep undergraduate members up to date on important events and decisions made by the executive committee. Walter also aims to establish better communications with the alumni of the organization and will continue to build a positive image of SigEp online through our social media accounts. Vice President of Finance Jack Garibaldi '22 Northbrook, Ill., Accountancy/Finance Jack is involved with Prime and IPO, two finance-focused Registered Student Organization within the Gies College of Business. This semes- ter, Jack worked to solidify the financial position of the chapter by incorporating more cushion into the budget and closely monitoring spending. In addition, Jack wants to make the budget more transparent, so members know exactly where their money is being spent. Vice President of RLC Thomas Schneider '21 Western Springs, Ill. Finance Thomas looks forward to the op- portunity to implement the skills he learned last semester to solve the issues the chapter is facing. He attended the SigEp Ruck Leadership Institute over the summer. This semester, Thomas reconstructed and empha- sized the importance of the SPEARS mentorship program so all members can succeed academically. He is excited to find knowledgeable leaders to give RLC talks to the chapter. Vice President of Philanthropy Kieran Hutchison '21 Wilmette, Ill. Finance - investment banking Kieran is involved with multiple organizations on campus, such as club volleyball, Investment Banking Academy, and Delta Sigma Pi profession- al fraternity. He believes his officer role is a great opportunity to step into a leadership role and learn from his experiences and failures to keep improv- ing himself. He plans to have multiple successful philanthropic events to help others and to establish a positive image of the Illinois Alpha Chapter. VP Risk Management Jared Larson '22 Evanston, Ill. Mechanical engineering, minor in business Jared has made some of his best friends in SigEp and is excited to have the chance to develop as a leader. His goal is to help Illinois Alpha return to good standing with the University and work with the University to make Gottheil a realistic possibility for next spring. Outside of SigEp, Jared participates in Engineering Ambassadors, a club with the aim of inspiring a passion for the STEM fields in kids from elemen- tary to high school. Jared's ideal job after college would be working in a consulting firm. Vice President of Facilities Management Luke Stoffel '22 Palatine, Ill. Finance This semester, Luke worked to further the integrity of the chap- ter, as well as the members in it. He executed this goal by holding himself and his brothers account- able for their daily tasks, which he did with the house committee he formed. Luke also encouraged more members to help with house projects, such as painting the basketball court, in order to improve the facility. He is also a basketball coach for the Champaign Park District.
