We rank as one of the foremost leaders of fraternities at the University of Washington. This Chapter continues to be a leader not only locally, but a leader of Alpha Delta Phi Chapters internationally. Here are a couple reasons for our success: A key reason for our success is the quality of leadership and of the overall membership of our Undergraduates. The Chapter continues to seek out and pledge, top level high school students. We remain a leader academically, involved in the Inter Fraternity Council, and maintain high standards of behavior as established by us and the University administration. The quality of our Chapter is further reflected in the leadership that emerges in the House Executive Council year after year. The leadership group manages, with the help of many committee leaders, the Chapter's budget, condition of the building, rush, our risk management policies and behavioral standards, and excellent social activities. In short, we are regarded as one of the top fraternities on Campus. Another cornerstone of the Chapter's success is the continuous positive interaction between the Alumni Association and the active Chapter. The Alumni Board meets with the undergraduate's Executive Council monthly. We actively engage in supportive, interactive roles to provide advice, hear the challenges they face, openly share our concerns, and mutually support our common goals and objectives. We believe our collaborative relationship built on mutual respect and trust will continue to be successful. A further indication of our success is that ADPhi's International Board of Governors met, for its Spring meeting, at our Chapter last April. As a result, we gained insight and respect for the challenges facing the International. All who witnessed this event realized that our support of the larger Brotherhood is vital. Additionally, we explained the process of how we successfully reopened the Washington Chapter. Hopefully, this discussion may assist other efforts in the growth and expansion of our fraternity. SPECIAL RECOGNITION Kudos to Brother Bob Gilbert '81 for serving as President of ADPhi International. We were able to witness him in action as he led the Board of Governor's meeting here in Seattle mentioned above. As President, Bob assisted in supporting the staff, guiding and refining critical policies, and restructuring and refocusing the organization. Bob's gentle and effective leadership style was an inspiration to observe. It is an honor to the Washington Chapter to have had Bob serve as the President of the International. An all-time first for the Washington Chapter. After the April meeting, he decided to step down from his position due to career and family demands. Your dedication, personal sacrifices as well as devoted professional time and talent to the larger Brotherhood of ADPhi continues to be monumental. Thank you, Bob, and Xaipe! Special thanks and recognition go to Brother Bob Davis '92. Bob's commitment and devotion to our Chapter is also monumental. He was one of the key members of the Alumni group that reopened the Chapter in 2008. Prior to the reopening, Bob teamed with several other Alumni to conduct the initial planning, conversion of the House back to the fraternity, plus contributing his time, leadership and personal resources. Bob served as President of the Alumni Association for over 10 years. The best way to describe Bob is as a leader of the highest levels of integrity, patience, and insight. He personifies what it means to be the ideal Alpha Delt. He has now decided to step down from the Board at the end of this year. We were, of course, shocked at his announcement. Bob's calm and steady hand in guiding the Alumni Board will be greatly missed. We hope he knows that from time to time we may call on him for advice. However not to be lost, Bob has agreed to continue as one of the active Chairs of the Capital Campaign. Many Alumni may experience his gentle asks for a commitment to our longer-range fund raising. Bob, it is it is almost humanly impossible to thank you enough for all you have given to ADPhi! Xaipe! ALUMNI ASSOCIATION WELCOMES THREE NEW BOARD MEMBERS We are pleased to announce the addition of three new Board members—Kyle Leonard '12, Nate Sewell '12, and Michael Derr '84. Thanks to these three new and valuable alumni for their commitment and service. Washington Chapter of Alpha Delta Phi is one in which we can all be proud.
