3 e Serpent Beta Zeta Thanks Outgoing Worthy Commander Jason Norman '99 (BZ1850) for His Years of Service I n October, Jason Norman '99 (BZ1850) concluded his term as the worthy commander for Beta Zeta. The alumni association is grateful for Jason's leadership during this critical period for the chapter. Jason is a member of Sigma Nu's spring 1999 class. He graduated from Purdue University in 2003 with a B.S. in computer graphics technology with a focus in interactive multimedia design. His work as a designer earned consecutive Outstanding Success in Sign Design awards. After his 14-year career as a designer, Jason transitioned to being a full-time eCommerce project manager. He resides in Chicago's suburbs with his wife, Vickie, and three stepchildren, Lara (17), Michael (16), and Nina (14). When he isn't glued to a computer screen or being the family Uber, he spends most of his time with family, learning Armenian, golfing, and playing softball. He can be contacted at jnorman@ jngrafix.com. A fter spending almost two years as a func- tioning colony without a house, the BZ brotherhood is immensly appreciative for their new home. We want to thank every alumnus who brought us home. Now that we have concluded our fall candidate induction, routines are being established, traditions are being brought back, and we are becoming more involved within the Purdue and Greek commu- nities. We are learning what it means to be the established "house on the hill." Renewed Glory to 1301 Tower Drive Each weekend, brothers have been steadily working around the house on maintenance, restoration, and repair. More specifically, Will Bruin '19, Ross Carter '18, and Ben Collins '17 have used their tremendous amount of skill to undergo several difficult projects on a weekly basis. Composites are being restored, paddles are being put back on display, and even the Grand Prix workshop is undergoing a complete overhaul. A lot is being done to bring back the glory that was once stripped away. Establishing Our Colony Our recruitment chairman, Nathaniel Sis- low '18, successfully recruited and inducted 17 new candidates into the brotherhood, a 240% increase from the previous semester. e house was a much-needed advantange during recruitment. Social Chairman Carter Martin '18 has also done a terrific job in reaching out to members of the Greek community. Last semester, it was quite difficult to organize social or philanthropy events because of our lack of a centralized location. Now that we are more or- ganized as a colony, we are getting to know our neighbors and the rest of Greek life on campus. Dedication to Philanthropy Our philanthropy chairman, Isaak Leeke '18, hosted a successful fundraiser car wash. All proceeds were donated to support Hurricane Dorian relief in Florida. A creative spin was put on this philanthropy as it doubled as a recruiment event. Half of the members were outside washing cars while the other half were inside socializing with potential new members. We felt it would best characterize our work ethic if we showed prospective new members what it's like to make an impact as a Sigma Nu. Isaak and his committee will soon be hosting our larger philanthropy, a Greek-themed sports competition titled e Nu-Olympics. We have partnered with our neighbors Gamma Phi Beta and the Tippecanoe Special Olympics to accom- plish this event. rough steady improvements, dedication, and a desire to recharter, everyone has been contributing a tremendous amount of effort and enjoying every minute of our time together. To the BZ alumni, we appreciate the donations we have received and encourage you to come visit the Beta Zeta house and see the results of our hard work! Fraternally, Joseph P.
